Chelsea fans were left celebrating Cole Palmer once again - this time for his explicit post-Club World Cup triumph interview. Palmer scored two goals and assisted another as the Blues were 3-0 winners against Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday night. Enzo Maresca's side left the Champions League winners stunned with a dominant first half performance at the Met Life Stadium in New Jersey. "PSG have been PSG'd, " talk SPORT's Troy Deeney said in his evaluation of another match in which Palmer was the star of the show. "Obviously it's a great feeling, " he told DAZN at full time after the two sets of players clashed on the pitch. "Even better because, obviously, everyone doubted us before the game, we knew that. "But to go out there, put a fight on like we did against a great team, yeah man, it's good. " Palmer was then asked about what head coach Maresca is building at Chelsea, and responded: "He's building something special, something important, a young team. "Everyone's talked a lot of s*** about us all season, but I feel like we're going in the right direction. " DAZN issued an apology for Palmer's language but Chelsea fans on social media loved his honesty, with one on X saying: "Is there a better interview? Doubtful. " "Never change! Brilliant interviews! " a second added. A third said: "I love you Cole Palmer. " "This is your world, Cole, " a fourth commented as Palmer reached 18 goals and 14 assists for the 2024/25 campaign. The 22-year-old opened the scoring on 22 minutes with a fine left-footed finish past Gianluigi Donnarumma. Palmer then netted an almost carbon copy goal on the half-hour mark as Chelsea began to dominate the match. He assisted Joao Pedro just before half time to extend their lead and have the result all but confirmed ahead of the second half. Joao Neves was sent off for PSG for pulling Marc Cucurella's hair in the latter stages of the Club World Cup showpiece. After the full-time drama, in which PSG boss Luis appeared appeared to grab Pedro by the throat, Chelsea lifted the new-look trophy. United States president Donald Trump was bizarrely involved in their trophy lift as the Blues announced themselves as world champions. © 2025 talk SPORT Limited
