"I've got to take my share of the blame in that because tactically, I don't think we got it right. We made changes, we were able to commit more bodies forward, be more aggressive in our press. "In the first half, we were too cautious. Motherwell want the press, want you to come onto them, they want to break lines and take your midfield out the game. They caused us numerous problems. "The second half was a little bit better but nowhere near good enough and we didn't deserve to take anything on the night. " FT: Motherwell 2-0 Dundee United Motherwell manager Jens Berthel Askou tells BBC Scotland: "The win is important but the performance was more important because we needed to raise it from the other day [against Livingston]. It wasn't good enough. "Many other times, had we delivered that performance, we would not have won the game. We might as well have lost it. Today was much better, much more controlled and dominant. "The first half we were in full control, and it opened up a little. They tried to be man-to-man orientated. The second goal killed the game off a little and then we had good defensive structure at the end. They might be disappointed that Celtic won so comfortably and seem rejuvenated. The longer the half went, the more we were having to defend and then lose two goals and have a mountain to climb. "This match won't define our season. We won't be fighting for the first four positions. We've got a huge game against Kilmarnock on Saturday and that's more important. We just need to bin this game. "We freshened things up for this one and we'll freshen it up again at the weekend. "We've only dropped one position in the league, so not too much damage done. "It was a massive moment in the game to go 3-1 up at that time. It was a decision that's gone against us and we feel a bit hard done by. "These boys don't know how to give up. That's why they've managed to achieve what they've achieved. They believe they can beat anyone in the league. "Come Saturday [against Motherwell at Hampden] these boys will be ready to go again. Whatever that means, it happened tonight! That's two good results in five days for Motherwell, with a cup semi-final against St Mirren to come. Kilmarnock 0-1 Aberdeen Kilmarnock manager Stuart Kettlewell tells BBC Scotland: “We can talk about luck. I think you make your own luck in this game. We've played a game of football tonight where we've had the majority of the ball, the majority of chances, majority of corners, all the pressure. “I think what was frustrating for us is we had a lot of the ball in the first half but without really going anywhere, without carving opportunities, we concede a horrendous goal yet again. “We're not able to convert one of our chances. And that's obviously a recipe for losing games. I feel that the worst we should have been walking away for this game was 0-0. "I don't think any of us really could or should take any crumb of comfort. We've lost a game that I don't believe we should have. " The table is certainly very congested. Rangers are one of six teams on three wins from 10 matches. Rangers win two games and back in third. Says a lot about the quality of the league. "We know what St Mirren are. They keep their two front men up and try to engage with them as quickly as possible. We're disappointed with the goals we lose, it's the first time we've looked susceptible from set-plays. "Sometimes St Mirren put that pressure on you and you make poor decisions. But by and large I thought we were good in the game. We can't ignore the two goals we lose. "I loved the way the team were at the end. The support stay there at the death because they feel another goal is coming. That's a great feeling to have as a manger, you feel the players are doing everything to get that winning goal. "At no stage did we accept just one point. It's important we win the game Saturday now. If we do, that'll be seen as a decent point. " "If anyone told me at the start of the season that after 10 games we'd be six points clear of Celtic, you'd have grabbed that with both hands. That's where we are. " FT: Hibernian 0-1 Rangers Michael Stewart Former Hibs midfielder on BBC Sportsound Danny Rohl is just in the door but he was very clear on Hibs being a transitional team. They look to hurt you from turnovers. You could see Rangers were just trying to make themselves difficult to break down. We gifted them a goal and didn't really create many chances after that. Did we do enough? Probably not. That was down to a lack of quality from us. "We certainly got into good areas and had the best two chances [in the second half], including missing a penalty, which was a massive moment. "The disappointment is going to sting but there's no time to feel sorry for ourselves. " FT: Kilmarnock 0-1 Aberdeen Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin tells BBC Scotland: "It was a really important win for us. Also, the way we win the game, we know [Kilmarnock] are good in these situations around the box, how they can overload the box, their set plays, they are a really strong team there. "I'm really proud of the players. Of course, Dylan [Lobban] made his first game today and did super good. A lot of young players now are pushing for game time and when they get the chance, they are ready. "Our supporters travelling down here on a Wednesday night support us in a tough situation. We need that energy and we need them all the time. It was good to give something back today. I think we are in this together. It's not for me or for us, it's for our fans and our club. The belief is still there. "The energy is there every day in the training session, but we have struggled with the rhythm of the game. We have struggled in some parts with individual responsibility in the 50-50 duels, but the players showed they can do it. Now we just need to find the consistency. I think Danny Rohl has brought back an understanding of the basic principles of how to defend and how to work as a team. The shock resignation of Brendan Rodgers on Monday and subsequent fallout only compounded what has been an increasingly turbulent campaign for Celtic. Pre-match fan protests and the presence of principal shareholder Dermot Desmond in the main stand, after his statement pointed blame at Rodgers for the negativity surrounding the club, only added to what has been an unprecedented circus. A bounce was badly needed against a Falkirk side who came into this off the back of two wins. O'Neill reverted to experience, with three changes in defence and James Forrest deployed down the right flank. A familiar pattern emerged, with Celtic showing intent, but they struggled to trouble goalkeeper Scott Bain at first. The breakthrough came via the, at times wasteful, Nygren. He saw his strike bounce of a post with Kenny alert to fire in the rebound. Falkirk came close to an immediate leveller when Trey Samuel-Ogunsuyi was denied by Kasper Schmeichel but, from there, Celtic took a firm grip. Kenny seized on Nygren's knock down to net his double, then Nygren capitalised on Bain's poor parry and Tounekti seized on his chance to finish from close range. It could have been more as Celtic enjoyed welcome relief from everything that has engulfed the club ahead of a crucial cup semi-final against Rangers. This played out pretty much as well as O'Neill might have hoped. In this most turbulent week for the club, a two-goal cushion was a dream outcome at the break and they built on that. The intent to get forward quicker was there. It was clear there was instruction to change that. One thing Celtic have lacked is a goalscoring focal point. Kelechi Iheanacho threatened a solution before injury but Kenny, finally, took his chance. He looked sharp and hungry for more. A welcome boost to him and the team in general as was the substitute appearance of Daizen Maeda after injury. If Nygren could finish more clinically, who knows how many he could net, but he gets into some wonderful positions consistently and did so from a central position repeatedly. There's a long way to go for Celtic to be fully back on track but this was a really positive step that lifted the mood ahead of Sunday's League Cup semi-final against Rangers. Falkirk had chances and again showed they can play. They stuck at it and look a capable Premiership side. It just began to run away from them. They've started the season in a positive fashion and can feel good about what they've delivered so far, albeit they will not have enjoyed this outcome too much.
