Eight games at 15: 00 BST including leaders Middlesbrough at Southampton Earlier, Coventry beat 10-man Birmingham 3-0 through Thomas-Asante, Osayi-Samuel own goal and Torp rebound Derby come from behind to draw 1-1 at Wrexham, as do Millwall at Swansea Get Involved: Use interactive button at top of page or #bbcefl Glenn Speller, Ian Woodcock, Matt Cresswell and Oliver Brindle Southampton v Middlesbrough (15: 00 BST) Marc Webber BBC Final Score commentator at St Mary's Stadium Ring My Bell by Anita Ward was the pre-match music

ringing around St Mary’s a few moments go, and Will Still’s rung the changes

with six swaps from struggling Southampton’s last league defeat, after three of

them impressed against Liverpool in the League Cup. Alex Mc Carthy replaces Gavin Bazunu in goal, with Ronnie

Edwards, Nathan Wood, Joshua Quarshie, Adam Armstrong and Ross Stewart getting

starts today. Middlesbrough make just one change with Morgan Whittaker

in and Sverre Nypan dropping to the

bench. Charlton v Blackburn (15: 00 BST) Very good at home meets decent away - this one looks pretty evenly matched. Charlton's return to the Championship has been solid if unspectacular - an opening-day 1-0 win over Watford and a 1-0 victory at Sheffield United last weekend have been enough to secure a mid-table position but there is a theme with those scorelines. Nathan Jones' side are struggling to find the back of the net, so much so only the troubled Blades have scored fewer goals this season. Fortunately for the Addicks their defence is the third best in the division with only the top two of Middlesbrough and Stoke having conceded fewer than the Londoners' five. They have also built something of a fortress at The Valley with just the one defeat from their past 18 league games. There may be a bit of Rovers rage heading down the motorway this afternoon. Blackburn are not particularly enamoured with being ordered to replay the whole of their abandoned game against Ipswich. Leading 1-0 against 10 men with 10 minutes to play last week, the heavens opened and the match never finished. "It's a disgraceful decision, it's bad publicity for English football, " boss Valerien Ismael told BBC Radio Lancashire - the Frenchman's not one for sitting on the fence. His side have won four of their past six on the road and maybe Charlton will have to deal with just that little bit more motivation from their opponents today. .. Stoke City v Norwich (15: 00 BST) Stoke City start the day second in the Championship table ahead of their home clash with Norwich City at the Bet365 Stadium. The Potters have conceded just four goals this season in the league - the fewest in the division - and are yet to concede more than one goal in any of their first six matches of the season. Norwich, by contrast, have been much better on their travels (W2 D1) than they have been at Carrow Road - where they have lost all three of their opening Championship games this campaign. They will be hoping their good run of form against today's opponents continues, currently on a run of five matches unbeaten in ST4. If they are to do so, it is likely talisman Josh Sargent will play a key role, currently the league's joint-top goalscorer, with five goals from just seven shots on target so far this term. Sheff Wed v QPR (15: 00 BST) Sheffield Wednesday's future off the pitch remains unclear and the club were hit with a third separate transfer embargo this week, with fans expected to again protest against Dejphon Chansiri's ownership during and after today's match. On the pitch they claimed a highly credible 2-0 win at Portsmouth last Saturday for their first league victory of the season and another today could lift them out of the relegation zone. However, it's been quite a while since the home fans left Hillsborough buoyed by a win. Their 2-1 victory over Middlesbrough on 23 April is their only home win in their past 10 Championship games here. How they wish they were facing QPR of a few weeks ago rather than the side that head into town today on the back of three successive league wins. Southampton v Middlesbrough (15: 00 BST) For those Southampton fans who thought the nightmare was over, you might want to put your head back under the covers. The hangover from the misery of the Premier League has continued into a return to the Championship which has so far garnered one victory. However, a heroic performance in a midweek Carabao Cup defeat by Liverpool has given boss Will Still encouragement there are better times ahead. "It's frustrating being where we are and having the number of points we have but we are to blame for that, " Still told BBC Radio Solent. "Especially after Tuesday, I am fairly confident we're making progress and we're going in the right direction. " Middlesbrough are only the fourth side in the past 40 years to lead the second tier by as many as four points after six games. Their total of 16 points is also their best haul at this stage of a season. Today marks exactly 22 years since Boro won a league game at Southampton - the Saints need it to be a miserable anniversary. Oxford v Sheff Utd (15: 00 BST) It's been a dreadful start to the season for Sheffield United. The Blades go into today's game at Oxford on a run of six successive league defeats and they haven't so much as scored a goal since the opening day of the campaign. Should they fail to find the back of the net today they will match a club record of six games without a goal. Oxford got their first win of the season with a 3-1 success at Bristol City last week and are now looking for successive wins for the first time since January. Preston v Bristol City (15: 00 BST) Rob Law BBC Radio 5 Live sport reporter Last weekend, Bristol City suffered their first defeat in the

league this season, denying them their best start at this level in 51 years.

Three points today could move them second. Preston are unbeaten at home however - Leicester, Ipswich

and Middlesbrough have all dropped points here this season. Preston v Bristol City (15: 00 BST) Two of the Championship's current top six, Preston and Bristol City, meet this afternoon at Deepdale. City, who currently sit fifth, have won on two of their past three trips to Preston, which is as many as their previous 20 visits before then combined. Preston, who are sixth, have won three of their past five in the league, more than they had managed in their previous 18 Championship games. Paul Heckingbottom's men will have to be wary of City forward Anis Mehmeti today, however, No player has been involved in more Championship goals than the in-form Albanian so far this season (four goals, two assists). Watford v Hull City (15: 00 BST) Time is a precious commodity for football managers and certainly at the infamously impatient Watford. The Hornets go into today's game with just one win from their opening six Championship matches under new head coach Paulo Pezzolano and a defeat today would see the Uruguayan under real pressure. Hull City arrive in Hertfordshire on the back of an impressive 3-1 win at home to Southampton last week. In former Scotland striker Oli Mc Burnie they also boast the league's dangerman, with nobody registering more than his six Championship goal contributions (three goals, three assists) so far this season. Ipswich v Portsmouth (15: 00 BST) There was a time when just getting on a coach brought about a huge bout of travel sickness for Portsmouth. Eleven defeats from 12 away games in a wretched stretch last season had their Championship status in the balance, but fortunately they were rock solid at home. So, what's changed to bring about a five-game unbeaten away run? "We've just tried to be more solid and we've got a defined identity out of possession which we didn't have at the start of last year so we want to try to build on that, " said boss John Mousinho. Ipswich's return to the Championship, meanwhile, is very much a work in progress. A 5-0 thrashing of Sheffield United is their only win so far and last week's abandonment at Blackburn when they were trailing 1-0 and down to 10 men with 10 minutes remaining has prevented the situation looking even bleaker. Such was their horrible experience in the Premier League, Ipswich are today looking for consecutive league wins for the first time since May 2024 - maybe the Ewood Park shenanigans will be a turning point? FT: Wrexham 1-1 Derby Ed Dawes BBC Radio Derby commentator It is a fair result, and the Wrexham and Derby supporters are applauding the contest we have witnessed. There was controversy after eight minutes after Lewis O'Brien's terrible challenge on Ebou Adams. You just wonder if the referee should have shown him a red card? Because from the replay it certainly deserved one. #bbcefl Coventry's comfortable win sees them go second in the Championship table with Stoke dropping out of the early-door promotion spots ahead of their 15: 00 kick-off at home to Norwich City, while Birmingham drop to 10th. Millwall momentarily move up to eighth following their 1-1 draw at Swansea while Wrexham join the Swans in the top half of the table following their point against Derby. The Rams meanwhile move up one place to 20th, above Oxford United before the U's take on Sheffield United at the Kassam Stadium in 20 minutes time or so. FT: Coventry 3-0 Birmingham Darren Carter Ex-Birmingham midfielder on BBC Radio WM Chris Davies and the players have got a lot of work to do. There was nothing to like or enjoy about that game and they have come up against a really good side in Coventry. Coventry never gave them a way back into the game, you take the result it happens in football. There was a lot in the game that was out of their control, but also a lot they had control of and they have let themselves down. But there is no better way to bounce back then having a game on Tuesday at homr under the lights. Coventry 3-0 Birmingham Very impressive from Coventry. One to forget for Birmingham. Brandon Thomas-Asante put the Sky Blues ahead just past the quarter-of-an-hour mark before Jack Robinson was dismissed for a second yellow card offence for the visitors. A Bright Osayi-Samuel own goal and a fifth of the season for Victor Torp put this one to bed. Coventry remain unbeaten while for Birmingham boss Chris Davies it's just a 10th defeat in his 69 games in charge but three on the bounce on their travels. The Championship is a little less forgiving than League One. Wrexham 1-1 Derby Honours even after an exciting second half. The home side took the lead after the break when Lewis O'Brien, who was maybe lucky to avoid a red card in the first half for a heavy tackle on Ebou Adams, headed in from debutant Issa Kabore's cross. Derby weathered some more pressure from the Welsh side and then hit back with a truly special strike from Ben Brereton Diaz, after the Chile international had shown great feet to get by a couple of challenges. Thereafter there weren't really any clear-cut chances and a draw was probably about right. Wrexham remain without a home win in the league this campaign. Swansea 1-1 Millwall It is now all over in South Wales and Swansea and Millwall maintain their respective unbeaten home and away records. A point a piece is about the right result. Swansea dominated the opening stages and Zan Vipotnik's excellent backheel gave them the lead. Millwall, as you might expect, never looked like throwing in the towel and got their leveller in stoppage time at the end of the first half when Josh Coburn nodded in his first goal of the season. The second period was more scrappy but the Swans will perhaps feel hard done by after seeing a very good penalty shout turned down as well as Adam Idah's goal disallowed for a foul on the goalkeeper. Swansea currently sit 11th following a third draw of the campaign while Millwall move up to eighth before the 15: 00 kick-offs. Wrexham 1-1 Derby Derby get first contact on the corner but the ball drops invitingly to George Dobson. .. He swings wildly at the loose ball and the chance is gone. A waste. Wrexham 1-1 Derby Nathan Broadhead's free-kick hits the top of the Derby wall. Corner. Swansea 1-1 Millwall A good punch away from the resulting corner from Steven Benda clears Millwall's decks. Swansea have 30 seconds left to find a winner. Last Updated 27th September 2025 at 14: 27 Please Note: All times UK. Tables are subject to change.
