The 22-year-old was named in the Championship team of the season after helping the Clarets break defensive records as they won promotion to the Premier League. On Wednesday they agreed to sign England midfielder Angel Gomes, who had spent five years with fellow French side Lille. Egan-Riley joined Burnley from Manchester City in 2022 and had loan spells at Hibernian and PSV Eindhoven before establishing himself at Turf Moor.
