FT: Denmark 2-1 Northern Ireland You can watch the best of the action from tonight's game here. This video can not be played Highlights: Denmark fight back to beat Northern Ireland FT: Denmark 2-1 Northern Ireland Northern Ireland captain Trai Hume, speaking to BBC Sport NI: "It was a proud moment captaining my team and my country but it's a tough one to take losing 2-1. We started well in the first half and frustrated them as best we could, and they didn't really have any chances. In the second half you saw their quality and they had a lot more chances. We probably could have looked after the ball a bit better, we turned it over and that is where they got their chances from. "We'll need to learn from it, it's going to come up again soon against Germany and Slovakia. There are going to be tough nights like that. We are going to have to stick together and try and grind out results. " FT: Denmark 2-1 Northern Ireland Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill, speaking to BBC Sport NI: "We showed a lot. Obviously we got off to a good start, got ahead in the game and in the first half we defended very well. We looked comfortable in terms of defending our box, but we could have been a bit better in possession, we turned the ball over a little bit. In the second half we came under more pressure and we turned the ball over a little bit more. We knew we'd come under pressure from a team like this and we knew we'd have to defend for long periods in the game. "We showed a lot of character, we stayed in the game at 2-1 which isn't easy. You have to get to that final phase of the game when you get an opportunity. It's a very young team against an experienced team. Physically it was tough at times for us tonight but overall we got what we wanted out of the game. The most important thing, as I said before this, is the players come away realising we're going to have to play games of this nature in Slovakia, Luxembourg and Germany as well. FT: Denmark 2-1 Northern Ireland Josh Magennis Northern Ireland striker on BBC Two NI In order for Northern Ireland to get better, they have to learn on the job. For me, they are learning from their mistakes and they are putting that into practice now and we are getting results. FT: Denmark 2-1 Northern Ireland Stuart Dallas Northern Ireland midfielder on BBC Two NI You have always associated Shea Charles with sitting in front of the back four, but since Michael O'Neill has come in he has changed that role a little bit and he is able to get further forward. FT: Denmark 2-1 Northern Ireland Do you think Christian Eriksen enjoyed his winner? FT: Denmark 2-1 Northern Ireland Northern Ireland defender Dan Ballard speaking to BBC Sport NI: "We knew it's going to be a tough game tonight. They're a very good team, good in possession and we had to defend for large parts of the game. "I think we're just lacking a little bit of quality on the ball. I think we need to look after the ball better and create some more chances. "For a large part of the first half we were obviously in the lead and it's a shame we couldn't hang on for a result. " FT: Denmark 2-1 Northern Ireland Josh Magennis Northern Ireland striker on BBC Two NI As soon as you are playing at Windsor Park and you walk out and there are 18 or 19 thousand people who are singing the national anthem, you can't replicate it and it is unbelievable. As soon as you start a game on top and are dominant and Windsor Park is rocking, it is an atmosphere that opposition can't get to grips with. FT: Denmark 2-1 Northern Ireland Josh Magennis Northern Ireland striker on BBC Two NI Iceland are physical, look to dominate from set pieces and they have masses of running power and they have shown that to us in times of late. FT: Denmark 2-1 Northern Ireland So, what's next for Northern Ireland? They welcome Iceland to Windsor Park on Tuesday in their final friendly before the start of World Cup qualifying. Will they bounce back with a win? FT: Denmark 2-1 Northern Ireland Stuart Dallas Northern Ireland midfielder on BBC Two NI On a whole, Denmark were worthy winners tonight. However, it's a good experience for Northern Ireland against a good team and they'll take that going into Tuesday. FT: Denmark 2-1 Northern Ireland Josh Magennis Northern Ireland striker on BBC Two NI I think ideally for Michael it would be Pierce Charles [starting regularly between the posts], but for that to happen he'll need to be paying regularly at his club Even though Plymouth went down Conor Hazard had a fantastic season so coming into these games he was warranted an opportunity to play, especially in friendlies, so Michael O'Neill could see what he would do. FT: Denmark 2-1 Northern Ireland Northern Ireland defender Conor Bradley on BBC Two NI: "We knew it was going to be a difficult game. I'm proud of the lads. We were disappointed with the first goal and there was a bit of luck in the second with a couple of delfections. I'm proud overall. " On learning ahead of World Cup qualifiers in September: "Especially the Germany game, I think that is what it will be like, with what we had tonight. We can learn a lot and bring it into the qualifiers. " On playing for Northern Ireland again: "I love playing for Northern Ireland, it's always a privilege playing for your country. I'm really happy to be back out there but we're disappointed with the result. " On Tuesday's game at home to Iceland: "Every time you get to play at Windsor Park is a privilege, hopefully it's a better result and we can get back to winning ways, and give the home fans something to cheer about. " FT: Denmark 2-1 Northern Ireland Stuart Dallas Northern Ireland midfielder on BBC Two NI Pierce Charles probably didn't expect to come on and he has and he's made a handful of good saves. I don't think Conor Hazard had anything to do in the first half. FT: Denmark 2-1 Northern Ireland Josh Magennis Northern Ireland striker on BBC Two NI It is a tough one to take, especially after going 1-0 up in the first half. But I think Denmark to be fair to them tweaked their formation in the second half and they came out with a bit more impetuous and managed to put us under a bit more pressure and walked away with the victory. FT: Denmark 2-1 Northern Ireland Stuart Dallas Northern Ireland midfielder on BBC Two NI For me, Northern Ireland didn't take enough risks going forward. FT: Denmark 2-1 Northern Ireland Stay tuned for reaction from Copenhagen from the Northern Ireland camp, and from Josh Magennis and Stuart Dallas in Belfast. FT: Denmark 2-1 Northern Ireland Christian Eriksen's goal is the difference for the hosts, who had to come from behind. It's all over in Copenhagen. This video can not be played Highlights: Denmark fight back to beat Northern Ireland Christian Eriksen scored the winner as Denmark came from behind to beat Northern Ireland in a friendly in Copenhagen. The visitors had taken the lead after only five minutes when Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg turned into his own net. Michael O'Neill's side defended stoutly without offering much attacking threat, but Gustav Isaksen equalised in first-half added time with what was his side's first shot on target. The hosts were more dangerous after the break but Eriksen's strike in the 67th minute was enough to settle a largely drab game. Justin Devenny created Northern Ireland's early opener O'Neill made seven changes from the 5-1 defeat by Sweden in March with Trai Hume, Conor Bradley and Dan Ballard all back after missing out in Stockholm through injury. It was two of those retained who combined to force the sixth-minute opener. Crystal Palace's Justin Devenny intercepted a poor pass from Joachim Andersen and drove into the box before his deflected cross was bundled into the net. While Shea Charles wheeled away celebrating what would have been a first international goal, it was ultimately given as a Hojbjerg own goal. Demark, who are in Scotland's qualifying group for next year's World Cup, enjoyed plenty of possession but in a frustrating opening half hour did not force Conor Hazard into making any meaningful saves. With Ballard comfortably dealing with crosses into the box, and Isaac Price working back well to help Devenny with the tricky Isaksen, the visitors contained the Danes well. Indeed, Isaksen's equaliser in first-half added time was the first effort on target of the game from either side. The Lazio forward had drifted inside from the right flank looking for the ball from Mikkel Damsgaard with his fine curled effort from the edge of the box finding the corner of Hazard's net. Shea Charles was closest to Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg when the Danish captain put through his own net It was to be the last action for the Plymouth Argyle keeper who, after receiving treatment in the first half following a collision with Rasmus Hojlund, was replaced by Pierce Charles at the break. Ten minutes into the second half, the Sheffield Wednesday man made the first save of the game when he tipped Christian Norgaard's header round the post. From the resulting corner, Ballard then Bradley cleared Danish efforts off the line. With the pressure building on his side, boss O'Neill brought Jamie Donley and George Saville off the bench but with 23 minutes to go Eriksen put Denmark ahead. The midfielder, who will leave Manchester United this summer, was on hand to tap home after Isaksen's ball fell kindly for him after touches off both Trai Hume and Ballard. Isaksen forced Pierce Charles into a diving save shortly after and substitute Mika Biereth had a headed goal ruled out for offside as the hosts stepped up their intensity. With Bradley, who had always looked the most likely to create something for his side, replaced for the final 17 minutes, Price's speculative strike from distance that flew well over the crossbar was the closest the visitors came to an unlikely equaliser. The side are next in action on Tuesday night when they will host Iceland in Belfast in what is their final game before their World Cup qualifying campaign begins in September.
