Well, it was more than seven hours ago now - so here's a reminder of what unfolded. .. There were injury-time goals at

both ends of the pitch as Leeds fought out an entertaining 3-3 draw against

promoted Portsmouth at Elland Road. Callum Lang, whose first goal

had given Pompey a 2-1 lead, converted a late penalty to make it 3-2 – only for

Brenden Aaronson to rescue a point for the home side in the 95th minute. Oxford, who gained promotion

from League One alongside Portsmouth last season, made a winning start in their

first second-tier game for 25 years, goals by Mark Harris and Cameron Brannagan

securing a 2-0 victory over Norwich. Josh Maja’s hat-trick for West

Brom earned them a 3-1 win away to QPR, while Emmanuel Latte Lath’s first-half penalty

was enough for Middlesbrough to take three points at home to Swansea. There was late drama at The Den,

where Duncan Watmore’s second-half double recovered a 2-0 deficit for Millwall

against Watford – only for Hornets striker Mileta Rajovic to grab a 90th-minute

winner for the visitors. Goal action also arrived late in

the game at the MKM Stadium, where Bristol City substitute Fally Mayulu put his side ahead only for Oscar

Estupinan to level for Hull with an injury-time penalty. Stoke’s Lewis

Baker struck the only goal as his side edged out Coventry, while Sunderland

also collected three points, with Luke O’Nien and Jack Clarke both on target to

wrap up a 2-0 victory at Cardiff. Stockport 2-0 Cambridge This one was all one way traffic with new boys Stockport in the fast lane. One goal in each half and a steady stream of possession was enough to keep Cambridge from getting a foothold in the game. A straightforward and successful outing for the Hatters. Leyton Orient 1-2 Bolton Bolton's keeper Nathan Baxter deserves all the plaudits in this one, he kept his side in the game the second half. The 6ft 2 shot stopper made a trio of acrobatic saves to deny Leyton Orient an equaliser, which they came very close to getting. A terrific game from both teams. Wrexham 3-2 Wycombe Wrexham get their League One campaign off to the perfect start, all three points. The Wycombe comeback just came too late in the day to deny the Dragons. Burton 2-3 Lincoln Plenty of goal action at the Pirelli Stadium, but it's the visitors who leave with all three points. Lincoln captain Paudie O'Connor grabs the late winner - his second of the game, sandwiching a goal for Tendayi Darikwa. Udoka Godwin-Malife and Billy Bodin are the men on target for the Brewers. Bristol Rovers 1-0 Northampton All over and Bristol Rovers earn a late opening day win. They defeat Northampton courtesy of debutant Bryant Bilongo's 92nd-minute goal. Exeter 1-0 Rotherham Three points for Exeter on the opening day, with substitute Caleb Watts scoring the only goal against Rotherham. The Millers tend to lead a yo-yo existence between the second and third divisions, but they've started with a defeat as they look to build another promotion campaign. Wigan 0-1 Charlton The Addicks kick off their season with three points! Lloyd Jones' 81st minute strike was enough to seal the win for Charlton in their opening game of the Championship season. Peterborough 0-2 Huddersfield Town Huddersfield Town start their season with a big three points! All the hard work in front of goal was done in the first half with Antony Evans and Ben Wiles scoring. The Terriers held firm in the second half to keep a clean sheet and seal the win. Crawley 2-1 Blackpool It's a winning start for Crawley on their return to League One, with Rushian Hepburn-Murphy and Junior Quitirna the players on target. Ashley Fletcher pulled back a goal for Blackpool, but not enough for them to salvage a point. Stevenage 1-0 Shrewsbury All over in this one. Stevenage begin their season with a win as Elliott List's goal helps them beat Shrewsbury. Birmingham City 1-1 Reading It ends level at St Andrew's! Alfie May's spot kick cancels out Kelvin Ebhatiomhan's earlier goal for Reading as Birmingham earn a point on their League One debut. #bbcefl Finally, Bristol Rovers are on the verge of their first opening day victory in 13 years! Bryant Bilongo, the Pirates' summer signing from Middlesbrough, converts a 92nd-minute corner for a debut goal to put them in front at home to Northampton. Sam Vokes (89 mins) Comeback? Wycombe are certainly throwing everything they can at Wrexham and they have found a second goal. Sam Vokes with a towering header from a corner. Wrexham fans are white-knuckling right now. Leyton Orient 1-2 Bolton The Bolton goalkeeper Nathan Baxter has played a blinder this afternoon. Leyton Orient's Charlie Kelman thought he had equalised and was about to celebrate, but Baxter contorts his body (the ball was behind him) and somehow keeps the ball out of his net. Denied! Steven Fletcher (83 mins) What did I just say? Wrexham extend their lead through super-sub Steven Fletcher who jumps on a rebound and whips the ball into the back of the net. It's a long way back for Wycombe now. Wrexham 2-1 Wycombe Is there an equaliser out there for Wycombe with less than 10 minutes of normal time remaining? Or will it be a Hollywood beginning for Hollywood Wrexham to kick-start their League One campaign? #bbcefl It's turning into a memorable opening day for Lincoln City captain Paudie O'Connor. The Imps defender headed his side's equaliser earlier in the game and now he nods into the Burton Albion net for a second time to give the visitors a 3-2 lead at the Pirelli Stadium. Still as you were elsewhere, although Stevenage squandered a golden opportunity to double their 1-0 lead against Shrewsbury Town, with Daniel Kemp steering a penalty wide of the post. Alfie May (87 mins) Birmingham City are level from a spot kick! Alfie May the man who fires the ball past Reading keeper Joel Castro Pereira. The penalty awarded for a hand ball by a Royals defender in the box. Can someone find a winner? Last Updated 10th August 2024 at 21: 26 Please Note: All times UK. Tables are subject to change.
