Fewer than one in 10 Leicester City fans believe the club’s owners are doing a good job, with more than nine in 10 supporters demanding a 'refresh' at boardroom level. It follows the club’s second relegation from the Premier League in three seasons and a potential points deduction for an alleged breach of the EFL’s financial rules. Leicester are looking to appoint a replacement for Ruud van Nistelrooy, who left by mutual consent last month. His replacement would be their third appointment since Enzo Maresca’s departure to Chelsea last summer. Former QPR manager Marti Cifuentes is the frontrunner, talk SPORT understands. In a wide-ranging survey undertaken by the Foxes Trust, results suggest that belief in the clubs’ senior management is at a low ebb with just four per cent having confidence in their day-to-day running of the club. 93 per cent want personnel changes in the boardroom. Just nine per cent believe the owners – led by chairman ‘Top’ Srivaddhanaprabha – are currently successful in their role. The results follow protests against the club’s board during home matches last season, with director of football Jon Rudkin, in particular, being targeted. The survey also showed criticism of player and manager recruitment. two per cent said Leicester were performing well with signing new players and 89 per cent believe the club made poor decisions when appointing and retaining managers. Leicester are yet to bring in any new signings this summer, although highly-rated youngster Jeremy Monga signed a new contract following relegation. Leicester begin their Championship campaign at home to Sheffield Wednesday live on talk SPORT 2 on Sunday 10th August at 16: 30. The Foxes preparations for the upcoming season got underway in the best way possible last weekend with a 3-1 victory over Peterborough. Club legend Andy King took charge of the side for the match staged at the club’s Seagrave training ground, hoping to instill an air of positivity around the club. A double from promising talent Louis Page and a late effort from Silko Thomas were enough to see off Darren Ferguson’s side. Page is one of the club’s bright lights in what is undoubtedly a difficult time at the King Power Stadium. The 16-year-old picked up the academy Player of the season award last term having featured in both the Under-18s and Under-21s. Leicester are keen to tie down the youngster to a professional contract when he turns 17 on Thursday but it remains to be seen whether or not the player sees his future at the club. With financial limitations likely to affect the club’s transfer window, Leicester have little choice but to assess the readiness of their academy stars as they aim to be in the mix for promotion. The Foxes will be hoping they can tie down Page as they did with past and present homegrown heroes, Harvey Barnes, Hamza Choudhury, Kasey Mc Ateer and more recently Jeremy Monga. Among the doom and gloom circulating over the club, there is much to be excited about when it comes to the club's young stars. Next up for Leicester is a clash with Belgian outfit and fellow King Power-owned club Oud-Heverlee Leuven on Saturday. The club's final pre-season fixture will see Serie A side Fiorentina head to the King Power Stadium on August 3. © 2025 talk SPORT Limited
