The first proper double gameweek of the season is here and getting 11 players who feature twice is the ideal strategy - whether that be by using a free hit chip or your wildcard. With popular teams such as Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool facing tough away trips - to Manchester City, Chelsea and Everton respectively - it makes it even more feasible to ignore single gameweek players and go all in with 11 doublers. A fabulous week as Jarrod Bowen (14 points), Nordi Mukiele (14), Igor Thiago (13) and Virgil van Dijk (9) led the team to a fine 71 points. Karl Darlow, Leeds United, keeper, £3. 9m - Wolves (h), Bournemouth (a) That Wolves home game jumps out as a clean sheet chance for Leeds, especially as the visitors have scored just seven goals in 16 away games and were walloped by West Ham last week. Bournemouth away is a bonus game, but the Cherries have had three 0-0 draws in their past seven. Marcos Senesi (£5. 2m) and James Hill (£4. 2m), Bournemouth - Newcastle (a), Leeds (h) A double up on Bournemouth's defence makes a lot of sense. Both Senesi and Hill regularly score defensive contribution points (defcon) and they will see Leeds at home as a good opportunity for a clean sheet. Even if Bournemouth concede in both games, this pair could feasibly get defcon in each match and end up with eight points for the week, better than a single gameweek player with a clean sheet. Jan Paul van Hecke, Brighton, £4. 6m - Tottenham (a), Chelsea (h) Like the Bournemouth lads, Van Hecke is good at earning defcon. He's achieved the two bonus points in 11 of his games this season, and both of Brighton's fixtures look like the type of match where his side will be on the back foot on occasions and he'll have make plenty of blocks, clearances and interceptions. Both Brighton's opponents have issues at the moment, especially Spurs, so a clean sheet is not out of the question. This video can not be played Snooker Loopy Antoine Semenyo (£8. 2m) and Rayan Cherki (£6. 3m), Manchester City - Arsenal (h), Burnley (a) Nico O'Reilly's injury means free hitters no longer have to choose between Semenyo and Cherki. You'll want to keep an eye on O'Reilly injury updates, as he is in such incredible form, but no other City defenders offer the same upside. Semenyo has blanked in two straight games but he has 21 returns this season, while Cherki was on top form last week against Chelsea and his 13 assists is bettered only by Bruno Fernandes. Arsenal will be a tough fight but Burnley away is a juicy fixture, even if it was just a single gameweek. I wouldn't worry about Pep roulette at this stage of the season either - City are in a title fight and he'll play his best XI in each game if he can. Marcus Tavernier, Bournemouth, £5. 4m - Newcastle (a), Leeds (h) You might be tempted to look at other Bournemouth attacking assets who are in better form. But Tavernier is a haul waiting to happen. In Bournemouth's past five games he has taken 16 shots, three big chances and an expected goals (x G) of 2. 15, without scoring. That's more than any other Bournemouth player and he is on penalties too, although sharing the responsibility with Junior Kroupi. Diego Gomez, Brighton, £4. 9m - Tottenham (a), Chelsea (h) Brighton have a few interesting options, with Yasin Ayari and Jack Hinshelwood decent punts, but Gomez offers a mix of goal threat and defensive points. He has started the past seven and is playing as a wide midfielder as part of three players behind the centre-forward. In those games he has picked up defcon three times, scored twice and had an assist too. Cole Palmer, Chelsea, £10. 5m - Manchester United (h), Brighton (a) Chelsea are in rotten form and have tough fixtures in the double but Palmer is still near-essential if you are free hitting. He's on penalties for a start and, if Chelsea manage to bounce back from their thrashing by Manchester City, he will likely be at the heart of things. Erling Haaland (captain), Manchester City, £14. 4m - Arsenal (h), Burnley (a) He's not scored in four league games and only has three goals in his past 13, but would you dare go without Haaland in a double gameweek? Me neither. The Premier League's top scorer is in. Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Leeds United, £5. 6m - Wolves (h), Bournemouth (a) If you watched Calvert-Lewin's performance against Manchester United, it might have put you off picking him this week. He missed three big chances against the Red Devils and that is six big chances in a row he has squandered. But. .. he is at least getting in those positions. He was a massive handful against Manchester United and don't forget he takes penalties for Leeds too.
