Celtic clinched their 55th Scottish league title, Heart of Midlothian sacked their head coach after another defeat, while St Johnstone fell further adrift at the bottom. It was another eventful weekend in the first round of fixtures after the Scottish Premiership split, but how did the respective fans react? Find out below. Celtic trio and Murray vie for player of the year Player trading, Europe & stability - how Celtic have built domination 'Pressley willing to leave Brentford for Hearts job' - gossip Celtic thumped Dundee United 5-0 at Tannadice to clinch the title and set up Brendan Rodgers for another domestic treble as manager. Chris: The best team in Scotland bar none. An unprecedented 55 league titles and it ranks just as important as the previous 54. Daizen Maeda will get player of the year and deservedly so. Mike: Celtic are so far ahead of every other club in Scotland, both on and off the pitch. They deserve all the praise and congratulations they receive. Charles: What a season! Incredible. Maybe Celtic should go to the Premier League, because they are too good for Scotland. Kevin: There isn't enough competition, especially with a very poor Rangers team. A lot of people say Celtic and Rangers should be in the English Premier League, but the league would have to have 22 teams - no way should they replace two English clubs. Tom: Another wonderful day to be a Celtic supporter. Is Brendan Rodgers finally forgiven? What a pity the 10th title was lost. No, not lost, squandered. Rangers visited St Mirren already knowing their city rivals had clinched the title and their disappointment was heightened by further dropped points via a 2-2 draw that does little for interim head coach Barry Ferguson's chances of keeping the job permanently. Ronnie: Another dreadful performance. Barry Ferguson wanted five wins to end the season. This team fell at the first hurdle. Too many are simply not good enough and I'm afraid the much-lauded Hamza Igamane has joined them. He was hopeless. Next season can't come quick enough. I'm struggling to think of a player I would keep at the club. Barry just looks stunned at how poor his players are. I hope the 49ers have a magic wand, as well as cash. They will need it. Gerry: That performance sums up our season. Poor attitude, poor defensively, poor passing, poor on-field communication, poor team selection and poor leadership. It must be the worst Rangers team in our long and illustrious history. We can only look forward to an improved squad and a new season. Rab: A dreadful performance by Rangers. No structure to the team selection, no cohesion, comedy defending sums up our season and no better than when Phillipe Clement was in charge. Brian: The performance was dire. I really feel for Barry as he has put his heart and soul into making something of this team of half-hearted losers. He sounded so despondent at the end and I feel his pain. On the day that Celtic claim the title, this group of players are so unworthy to pull on the Rangers shirt and represent this great club. Simon: All I can say is thank goodness second place is mathematically safe. Aberdeen fans are delighted with a 1-0 win over Hibernian that draws them level on points with the third-top visitors thanks to a goal from a former Easter Road striker. Euan: Fantastic goal from Kevin Nisbet to secure the three points. It was a game that needed something special given the defensive displays from both teams. Graham: Hibs came for a draw. We were pressing for a large part of the game and, although a little ropey at the back, it was a much better performance than last week at Hampden. Then, crucially, we saw the game out with little fuss. Niall: This match was all about getting a win and the Dons delivered in some style with a touch of real class from Nisbet. This result should give a real sense of confidence to the Dons, who are looking more composed and threatening as a unit at just the right time. There were some shaky moments in defence during the first period, but there's definitely desire within the squad, which is what will be needed to deliver as much as possible in the remaining games up to the cup final. Fred: An important win, but a really dull match. We need to find a couple of forwards who can consistently score or we will struggle in Europe next season. Stuart: Given the pressure the team were under to win the game, the performance was brilliant considering Hibs are clearly the in-form team at the moment. Jim: Stunning goal and looked comfortable for most of the match. Couple chances for Hibs but nothing dangerous. Had worried it was going to be another dominant display with nothing to show - and up steps big Nisbet. Get him in on a permanent already. Hibs stay in third on goal difference after their 17-game unbeaten run came to an end. Sandy: We played well without finding that crucial finish. Jordan Smith was outstanding and he lost his series of clean sheets only to a good goal from an ex-Hibee. The run has ended, but I'm confident we will run again. Michael: A really disappointing performance. Very tepid throughout the match I felt - and extremely lacklustre up top. I feel we played for a draw and it's backfired. Hopefully it's a blip and we can kick on next weekend. George: Didn't look like losing, nor winning either, as both huffed and puffed through the 90 minutes. Kevin Nisbet swings a foot out as he's falling backwards, so for me a tad lucky. The 17 superior goal difference now looking handy though. Pat: Possibly got this one wrong as felt we would happily settle for a draw only to forget about the curse of the ex-player. No need to be worried. We remain third with a significantly better goal difference. Dave: David Gray should have kept with the same line-up he had the previous games. He changed it out of panic and it didn't work. Leaving Junior Hoilett out was a big mistake. Kenny: We played well at times but never looked dangerous in front of goal. The Aberdeen defence looked shaky, but we never took advantage. I have said from early on in the season we need a centre-forward. Four cup finals to go. United are now down to fifth after a bruising home loss to the champions. Jenny: Jim Goodwin's awful team selection showed he didn't expect to take anything from this game. Playing with one recognised centre-back was lunacy. Deciding not to give Declan Gallagher a new contract is already proving to be costly as he sat this one out on the bench when he would usually be playing. Mediocre performance from a mediocre team picked by a mediocre manager. United would have been as well not turning up and losing the three points. Shocking display and shocking management. Dave: Horrible afternoon. Don't really know what our aim was. Started well, then our momentum destroyed by the stupid "tangerine protest". To lose 5-0 and not have a yellow card to our name also tells a story. Kenny: What an absolutely awful performance by every player. Yes, Celtic were going for the points to win the league, but come on, at least make a game of it playing at home. We'll be lucky to finish in fifth playing like that - a shocking performance. Half of the United fans left at half time. What does that tell the club and Goodwin? Eddie: Baffling team selection and how Allan Campbell stays on the pitch is mystifying. Embarrassing performance that could have been even worse. You can't put out that team against the runaway league champions and not get taught a lesson. Andy: Team selection was wrong. Badly missed Gallagher and Campbell is a wasted jersey. Four cup finals now to chase third. David Babunski to start them all. George: The defeat by Celtic was not unexpected, but losing five goals was a surprise. Four games to go to set things right. Then Jim has some recruiting to do before next season. St Mirren are out of contention for European qualification, but the sixth-top side took all the plaudits from their draw with Rangers. Pauline: St Mirren definitely played the better football and it feels like two points dropped. Eddie: That was almost the perfect game, except we were extremely wasteful in front of goal. However, I can't fault any player as they fought for every ball. It's been an up-and-down season, but we have shown on our day we are a very good team. I'm looking forward already to next season. Hugh: A great result for the Buddies, who are unbeaten in all three games with Rangers this season. John: Two points dropped. Simple as that. When your main striker is gifted a free shot at goal and puts the ball yards over the bar, you want to scream. The result means that European football is probably beyond us. On the plus side, couldn't fault the work rate and the two goals were excellent. Thomas: Brilliant result again. Stephen Robinson would be well advised to stick with the Buddies if Hearts come looking for him. We're in a much better position as a club than they are. Neil Critchley was left exasperated against Dundee and out of a job Hearts dispensed with Neil Critchley within hours of a home defeat by Dundee that plunges the Edinburgh side into relegation trouble. Nick: It is the easy option to sack the manager, but once in a while take a look at the players and weed out the non-achievers. Also, what about the director of football? They seem to always miss the bullets. Alfred: The chief executive should bear the responsibility of appointing Steven Naismith and Neil Critchley and resign himself. Robert: Just not good enough, so it's for the best he goes now and we try a complete rebuild. David: Critchley was out his depth as much as the Hearts board are out their depth with regards to any football decisions. Changing the manager again doesn't deal with the core issue. Steve: Failed to get us into the top six. Failed to get us to the cup final and dragging us into a relegation battle. Clueless. Correct decision. Fraser: Hearts haven't been good enough for years. Another under-par manager in the spotlight. Huge loyal fanbase that has seen a very little return. Next appointment needs to be a huge name that's proven themselves in the game and has the ability to attract high-performing players and bring some joy back to Hearts. St Johnstone's 3-2 defeat in Motherwell leaves Simo Valakari's side six points adrift at the bottom and running out of games to avoid automatic relegation. Paul: That's the season in a nutshell. Played well then dropped their level for a short time and get punished. Defensively, especially down our right-hand side, we were very poor. Les: Simo Valakari talks well, but the performances are just nowhere near good enough. We would probably need to win all four now and that just isn't going to happen. Our chairman has a huge decision to make irrespective of what happens now. Is Simo the man to take us forward? I'm not sure at all on this one. Jimmy: Our defensive issues have caused us points. Personally speaking, I don't think the team are playing that badly, just that things haven't gone our way this season. There are still enough points to win in the upcoming games that should see us climb off the bottom. Some fans are criticising the players for not putting enough effort in and head coach for his team selection, but I think they know what's needed and he's doing a decent job. Ross County have dropped into the relegation play-off spot after their 2-0 defeat away to Kilmarnock. Alistair: Don Cowie is single-handedly driving that gutless, useless and hopeless group of players straight down into the Championship. He hasn't a clue. Does the chairman still have Stuart Kettlewell's number on his contacts list? Got to be worth a try. Jamie: Another really poor performance where we never look like scoring. It was blatantly obvious this team lacks pace and creativity, but this wasn't addressed in January for whatever reason. Like Yan Dhanda last season, we have totally relied on Noah Chilvers to come up with something, but with him out injured, it's hard to see who can provide our strikers with a bit of service they so desperately need. We must now be heavy favourites for another 11th-placed finish but still wouldn't rule out finishing 12th. Motherwell ended their poor run by beating St Johnstone to move above Hearts into seventh place and surely are now clear of relegation trouble. Matthew: Tony Watt can be very lazy at times, but credit where credit is due, he worked hard and deserves the credit for his assists. Clearly still not 100% fit as you're not going to get 90 minutes out of him. I know they are all fighting for contracts, but playing now isn't good enough when it should be the same effort every week. Happy to get the three points and hopefully another step closer to safety. James: Great result, but I always feel Motherwell need to be more ruthless in attack and defence. A better standard of player required for next season. Alan: Callum Slattery has played exceptionally well since coming back from injury and he has been our main scorer. It was good to see a fightback having been 1-0 down. We still require at least one winger and a centre-forward to enable proper penetration of opposing defences. This was a vast improvement on the last match against Hearts and a few more wins would boost team and supporter morale for next season. Let's see some of our younger academy players in the next games along with some foreign imports from Michael Wimmer's knowledge of the European leagues. A formal link-up with a team from Germany, the Netherlands or Belgium can only be of benefit to our development. Colin: Best performance in some time, but there is a fragility in defence that needs to be addressed, hanging on in the end. Slattery was our best player yet again. Just as well he has returned from injury at this point of the season to drag us through. We should avoid the play-off now, but complete overhaul of the team is needed. Kilmarnock continued their good home form to move three points clear of visitors County in second bottom. John: Good display and a great result. Same again next week would be great - we need a win. James: A good disciplined performance. County were never able to put us under any sustained pressure. They didn't have a shot on target until the 83rd minute. David Watson did very well having to step in when Brad Lyons got injured. Hopefully another two wins will see us safe. Gary: Very scrappy first 20 minutes, but Killie started to settle. Great cross from Danny Armstrong and goal from Bruce Anderson - we can't let him leave. In the second half, Killie should have been out of sight before Liam Donnelly scored a great goal. Robert: This was more like the Killie of last season. Solid at the back with no crazy mistakes costing us goals. Hard working all over the pitch and two good goals. Great to see Danny back playing like we know he can and the difference having Stuart Findlay back is enormous. Dundee moved off second bottom spot with a heartening win away to Hearts thanks to striker Simon Murray's 16th league goal of the season. Gary: There'll have been some raised eyebrows with that team selection (mine included), but the spine of the team was really solid and, with other strong performances around the park, it turned out to be a great three points. Ally: Simon Murray is an absolute star. He has got Dundee a good few points. Carl: Deserved victory for us, good team formation, great effort from every player, and a spot of good luck now and again got us three vital points. To see us playing for each other as a team was the icing on the cake. Mark: Best result of the season. We have now beat Hearts away and Dundee United away. These two results buck the trend of many a year. Win our two home games and we will finish best of the rest. Sir Tony Docherty arise. Kevin: Great gutsy display, tactics spot on and I thought it was a masterstroke using Antonio Portales in midfield, a steady display. And, with Murray up top, we always have a chance. Ross: We got it right. Defensively, we were immense. A win next week should be enough to keep us up.
