By WILL PICKWORTH, SPORTS REPORTER Published: 03: 39 AEDT, 7 January 2026 | Updated: 03: 47 AEDT, 7 January 2026 52 View comments Ruben Amorim is expected to return to Portugal following his dramatic sacking by Manchester United, and with it he will leave behind the £1. 2million Cheshire mansion he lived in with wife Maria Joao Diogo. The Portuguese coach's ill-fated 14-month stint as United manager came to an end on Monday following their 1-1 draw at Leeds United on Sunday. Amorim's departure followed multiple disagreements with the club's hierarchy and he was summoned to United's Carrington training base to learn his fate.   Under-18s coach Darren Fletcher has been installed as caretaker manager for Wednesday night's trip to Burnley, with the Red Devils set to name an interim boss until the end of the season. Amorim had been pictured with his wife Maria stepping out of their home on Monday afternoon just hours after he was fired. Despite his dismissal, the pair were wearing grins beneath their sunglasses, as they headed out for a stroll. Ruben Amorim and his wife Maria looked delighted outside their Cheshire mansion on Monday The pair could be leaving a £1. 2million home behind if they head back to Portugal after his Man United sacking Pictured - one of the six bedrooms in the spacious 6000 square ft property which is described as 'a delightful modern detached residence' And if they do head back to Portugal as expected, they will move out of their impressive mansion in Cheshire.   The synopsis of the property, taken from a listing with estate agents Jordan Fishwick before Amorim moved in, reveals the spacious residence has six bedrooms. It is described as 'a delightful modern detached residence. ' It continues:  'The accommodation spans close to 6000 sq feet with the upmost attention to detail throughout. There are four/five reception rooms including a great entertaining cinema room with all mod cons. All but one of the six bedrooms have ensuite facilities and the master bedroom benefits for a spacious dressing room too.   'Above the double garage there is a handy annexe suite providing guest or relative accommodation.   'The property is approached through electric gates and offers a high degree or security and privacy being fully enclosed with a large driveway and very private gardens to rear. ' It also adds that the property has a 'stunning interior', includes private enclosed grounds, is fully furnished and has a cinema room. Pictures from the property's listing shows one of the six bedrooms with a silver theme, with the curtains, rug and wallpaper all in that colour.   Another shot from the property showing the living area. It has a similar decor to the bedroom Another shot provides a view of the living area which has a similar decor, with a glass sculpture seen on the side and several rugs laid out across the sofa and floor.   It is unclear when the pictures of the house - which is said to be valued at around £1, 224, 000 according to property price website Mouseprice - were from, but given Amorim's wife is a successful interior designer and businesswoman, there is a chance she may have made alterations.   Although Maria has tended to have a low profile over her family's time in England, she was again pictured on Tuesday out in Manchester with Amorim and his agent.   After first meeting during Amorim's playing days, the couple got married in 2013 and they have two children together. As she has built up her own career, she launched an interior design firm called Dois Tons alongside Raquel Viana, wife of Man City director of football Hugo. On their website, they describe their objectives as creating design spaces where 'the client’s personality, needs and lifestyle become the pillar of the creative process'.
