Barcelona have conceded 12 first-half goals in 14 games, only Feyenoord (13) and PSV (13) have conceded more in the 2024/2025 UEFA Champions League. WHAT A BREATHLESS END TO THE FIRST 45 MINUTES! Barcelona substitutes have flown onto the pitch at the break to escalate tensions between the two sides. On the penalty, Alan Shearer told Amazon Prime: "Hakan Calhanoglu, how cool and calm he was there with the way he took it. "He's [Wojciech Szczesny] not stopping that - it is right in the corner "Nothing more than what Inter Milan deserve - they have been the better team. " 45 - Into two minutes added time! A red card check comes to a swift end from VAR in the aftermath of Calhanoglu's penalty as Barcelona players surround the referee. 45' - NO MISTAKE FROM THE SPOT! Calhanoglu proves to be the coolest man in San Siro as he steps up and confidently sends Szczesny the wrong way. A drilled effort into the bottom left corner! 43' - THE REFEREE HAS BEEN SENT TO THE MONITOR! Replays have shown that Martinez got a slight touch on the ball with the inside of his boot before Cubarsi had come in on the slide. PENALTY TO INTER! 41' - Calhanoglu scuffs an effort wide of the near post after an inviting ball falls for the midfielder inside the box. Inter then want a penalty moments after the restart after Martinez is threaded through, but Cubarsi steams in on the slide. It looks like a picture-perfect tackle inside his own box from the defender, but Martinez stays down and needs treatment. There is a potential penalty check, now. .. 39' - WHAT A TACKLE FROM BASTONI! Yamal causes all sorts of havoc once again as he cuts in from the right and skips over the challenge of Acerbi. However, Bastoni comes flying across with a stunningly-timed sliding tackle inside his six-yard area to take the ball from the teen. 36' - WHAT A CHANCE FOR YAMAL! Olmo bursts through the middle and jinks between two defenders before being wiped out by Calhanoglu. He manages to squeeze through a pass to Yamal, and Barcelona play on with the advantage as the teenager arrives inside the box. It looks like it opens up for Yamal to score the equaliser, but his cross-cum-shot trickles wide of the far post, with Torres lurking for a tap-in as well. Calhanoglu is then shown a yellow card for a foul earlier in the move.   The scoring moment from Martinez. .. Inter Milan have lost just one of their 49 home UEFA Champions League games when netting the opening goal (W42 D6). That was a 5-2 defeat to Schalke in April 2011. 32' - Nicolo Barella loses the ball in a very dangerous area, and Raphinha seizes the opportunity to cross from the left. His squared low ball for Ferran Torres is turned behind for a corner at the near post. Sommer then bails out his teammate by punching away. 30' - Lautaro Martinez has now netted eight goals across his last seven UEFA Champions League appearances. It's also his second goal across his last three meetings with Barcelona. Denzel Dumfries has either scored (2) or assisted (2) all four of Inter's goals against Barcelona in this tie, having had just three goal involvements in his first 39 appearances in the competition (1 goal, 2 assists) 29' - Olmo's shot is deflected behind! Barcelona show the value of their high-line, front-footed style on this occasion after snuffing out a promising Inter attack. After moving the ball from back to front, Olmo is fed into space, running into the box with runners alongside him. Ferran Torres is an option to his left, with Raphinha breaking his neck to be the third man square. However, Olmo delays on releasing the pass and eventually has little option other than to shoot. By then, the ball gets slightly caught under his feet with Inter getting bodies back and his tame effort deflects behind. 26' - The visitors are almost gifted an instant route back into this contest, with VAR looking at a potential Inter handball. Pedri squares the ball across for Dani Olmo inside the box, and it appears to bounce up onto the arm of Acerbi. However, a cheer erupts around San Siro moments later as the confirmation of check complete rolls through. 24' - Internazionale have a record of W9, D1, L0 when scoring the opening goal in the 2024/2025 UEFA Champions League. Barcelona, meanwhile, have a record of W1, D1, L2 when conceding the opening goal in the 2024/2025 UEFA Champions League. 22' - BARCA'S HIGH LINE IS FINALLY PUNISHED! Inter springs the offside trap successfully after numerous warning signs, and it is Dumfries who races through on goal. He unselfishly squares it for Martinez, who was only declared fit to start hours ago, to bury into an empty net. Martínez has scored his ninth goal in the 2024/2025 UEFA Champions League, the most by any Internazionale player in a single edition of the competition, overtaking Samuel Eto'o in 2011 (8 goals). 20' - Barella stings the palms of Szczesny! The Italian cuts inside from the right before unleashing a thunderous effort that Szczesny beats into the air before claiming at the second attempt. 17' - Last ditch defending from Barca once again! Bastoni brings the ball out from the edge of his own box before releasing Dimarco into space just beyond the halfway line. The high line of Barca looks to be on the ropes as Dimarco looks to thread Martinez in, but his ball is cleared behind for a corner.   Barcelona have provoked their opponents into 74 offsides in the Champions League this season. That is at least 40 more than any other side (Aston Villa, 34). 15' - OFFSIDE! Thuram looks to have sprung the offside trap after Martinez threads a pass from the halfway line in behind. The Frenchman races through on goal and attempts to take it around Szczesny, who reads it well and gathers the ball from Thuram's feet.   The linesman then raises the flag for offside! Former England striker Alan Shearer told Amazon Prime:  "Denzel Dumfries does brilliantly to get himself in there. "The strength to keep hold of that ball, but what he didn't do so well was pick the right pass at the right time. " 11' - Yamal rides a challenge from Mkhitaryan, but his squared pass across the box is cut out. Down the other end, Dumfries outmuscles Gerard Martin; however, he gets caught between two minds about his final pass. He eventually attempts to burst between two into the six-yard area from the right, but it's well defended. Inter are the first team to name a starting XI aged 30+ in 5 consecutive UCL KO stage games since Juventus in 2016-17, who did so in all 7 of their games from the last 16 to the final that year. Only Javier Zanetti (97), Esteban Cambiasso (62) and Iván Córdoba (60) have played more UEFA Champions League matches for Inter than Lautaro Martínez (57). Meanwhile, Barcelona have 8+ Spanish starters in a UCL knockout stage match for the first time since May 2013, and the second leg of their SF tie against Bayern Munich. 6' - After a spell of pressure, the home side launch their first quick counter-attack that spells danger for Barca. Dimarco breezes into space past the halfway line but is tugged back before he can thread the ball through for Martinez. © 2025 talk SPORT Limited
