The Champions League final is set as Inter Milan will take on Paris Saint-Germain in the season showpiece. The Gunners were knocked out in the last four by PSG after a 2-1 defeat at the Parc des Princes. The French giants had a slender lead thanks to an early Ousmane Dembele goal, and Mikel Arteta's men had to win by two to get through. Instead, they found themselves 2-0 down on the night, and despite a late Bukayo Saka strike, they couldn't turn it around. Inter Milan beat Barcelona the night before, marking one of the most incredible Champions League ties of all time. After a 3-3 draw in the first leg, the second leg ended 3-3 too, before Davide Frattesi scored the winner in extra time. It sent Inter through to the final, and they will take on PSG in a clash of styles. The 2025 UEFA Champions League final will take place on Saturday, May 31, with kick-off scheduled for 8pm UK time. Inter's main man in the Champions League this season has been Lautaro Martinez, and he even battled through a hamstring injury to score and win a penalty in the second leg against Barcelona. The Argentine has nine goals in UEFA's premier competition this year just three fewer than he has in Serie A. If they are to win, he will need to be at the top of his game. Another man who has enjoyed a stellar European campaign is marauding right-wing-back Denzel Dumfries. Of Inter's seven goals they scored in the semi-final, the Dutchman was involved in five of them directly. He has unbelievable attacking instincts and his battle with Nuno Mendes down the left will be crucial. Another key man for Inter is Yann Sommer. The decision to replace Andre Onana with the experienced Swiss international has proven to be a masterstroke. Sommer helped Inter win Serie A last season and played a crucial role in the semi-final win over Barcelona with a number of top saves. For PSG, the main man is Dembele. The French winger has always had incredible talent, but something has clicked in 2025 because he's now playing the best football of his life. Since the start of the calendar year, he has directly contributed to 30 goals across all competitions. Down the other end, Gianluigi Donnarumma proved his worth in the semi-final win over Arsenal. The Italian made a few massive save across both legs to keep his team in the lead. He might not be the best with his feet, but he is an elite shot-stopper. PSG have a number of other excellent players but one man who stands out is Achraf Hakimi at right-back. The Moroccan is a former Inter player and has been given the license to get forward in this side. He has incredible attacking instincts and scored the crucial goal against the Gunners to wrap up the semi-final. "It has been an extremely difficult match against a world-class side. Same as it has been against Bayern Munich. "We played four excellent matches, and it was the only way we could have reached the final. Not many counted on us going this far, and now we are very proud for our fans, for our people. "We need to keep on going, the final will be against a great team anyway, whether it will be against Arsenal or Paris Saint-Germain. "Two great teams, with two great coaches. We know their players well, we faced Arsenal in the league phase. "I have no preferences for sure [for the final], we will just face another great team. But so is Inter Milan. " Meanwhile, Luis Enrique believes his side deserved to make the final. He said: “I think they played in a clever way and they got the match to the right moment for them because they played in the way they want and love to play. “But I think in the two legs, we score more goals than them and in football that’s the most important thing. I have to say, Arsenal played a great match and we suffered a lot. I think it’s a match where we suffered the most. “I think we deserved to get to the final. They are a great team as well but I repeat, we scored more goals and we played in a great way in the first leg and in the second half in the second leg, it was a different match, and we could score even more goals. ” © 2025 talk SPORT Limited
