It was a victory that moved Thomas Frank's side up to eighth in the Premier League, above Bournemouth, who face Aston Villa on Saturday evening, live on Sky. The win also marks a fourth straight win for the first time in the Premier League for Brentford and extends their unbeaten run to six games. Brentford's win in East Anglia wasn't plain sailing, though, with Mark Flekken called upon to make a vital stoppage-time save to keep out Cameron Burgess and ensure all three points. The Bees looked more likely after weathering an impressive start from Ipswich. Schade's goal, though, came after referee Sam Barrott was called upon to make two huge decisions in the Ipswich area. An initial corner-kick saw Jacob Greaves grapple with Sepp van den Berg. Despite a brief VAR check, a penalty could not be awarded as the ball was not live when the Ipswich defender made the challenge. The following corner saw a similar tangle between Jack Taylor and Christian Norgaard - on this occasion, both were booked. Then from a third corner, taken by Bryan Mbeumo, Schade rose highest to glance beyond the reach of Alex Palmer and give his side the lead. Brentford controlled large parts of the second half, before a late flurry that saw Ipswich buoyed into action after Axel Tuanzebe avoided conceding a penalty for grabbing hold of Nathan Collins, an incident that VAR checked and cleared.

Omari Hutchinson saw an opportunity turned onto the post when he shot from a tight angle, and the Tractor Boys continued the initiative into stoppage time when Hutchinson whipped in an inswinging cross for Burgess to meet, only for Flekken to intervene. Having already seen their return to the Championship confirmed, Ipswich have now matched the record for most home defeats in a single Premier League season, with 15. Brentford, on the other hand, have recorded their highest ever win tally in a Premier League campaign with 16. Brentford boss Thomas Frank: "It was a very tough challenge. It was exactly as tough as I expected, and it shows how difficult it is to win four in a row in the Premier League. We are very proud of that. Today, Ipswich performed well. They are clearly running and fighting hard, and they came with everything. We controlled and dominated the first half. The second half was more hectic, and we had four or five opportunities to kill the game. In the end we win 1-0, though, and I think that's a fair result. "The prospect of Europe is really exciting. The most exciting thing is that there's a lot riding on the next two games. First is can we secure the top 10? That will be an amazing achievement to do that, that will be the second time in two years. Eighth would be our best position in the league ever, then let's see what's happening with other things we are depending on as well. But it's one game at a time, and the next one is Fulham. " Ipswich boss Kieran Mc Kenna: "We did fight, we went right to the last minute, we pushed everything we could to get the equaliser and the players gave everything against a good side with us coming into it in difficult circumstances in many different ways. We pushed really hard to get the goal and get something out of the game and it would have been deserved. "It's always going to be difficult after conceding the first goal, especially when it's a set-play, but we know Brentford are really good at the set-plays and that's one of the reasons why they are where they are, and they've developed that over a long period of time. "Credit to the players, we stayed in the game when the game was difficult, and that's progress from us from the last couple of home games. We managed a difficult period today then we really pushed as hard as we could for the goal. " Christian Norgaard told Sky Sports this week that Bryan Mbeumo is likely to leave Brentford in the summer amid rampant rumours about the 25-year-old's immediate future. There's no understating Mbeumo's performance: 18 goals this campaign and eight assists - the latest of which set up Kevin Schade's winner at Ipswich - tell the story of what Mbeumo is worth to the Bees. However, in the same breath, Brentford are the only team to have three players in double digits for goals this campaign. Schade's header was goal No 11 for the German, while Yoane Wissa has matched Mbeumo's return with 18 in the league. Their collective output has answered questions over whether they could replace departed striker Ivan Toney's influence. Asked about his forward line, Brentford boss Thomas Frank said: "We always create goalscorers. " Mbeumo's departure would leave huge shoes to fill but, based on current evidence, Brentford have what it takes to fill them, whether from within their current squad or by relying on their fruitful recruitment.
