The planned protest hasn't convinced everyone in the champions' support that it's the right course of action. Decent turn-out from the home support, who roared their team on to the park. And we're off and Celtic are immediately in possession. Will that be the pattern for the next 90 minutes? Kilmarnock v Celtic (15: 00) Celtic are yet to concede a league goal this season and could keep a clean sheet in all of their first five Premiership matches for a second consecutive season. Last term, that run of games included a 4-0 win over Kilmarnock at Celtic Park. Kilmarnock v Celtic (15: 00) Kilmarnock are still seeking their first league win, but manager Stuart Kettlewell has expressed himself "happy" with their start to the season considering they can claim to be unbeaten over nine games in all competitions. Their only "defeat" came in the bonus-point penalty shoot-out in the Premier Sports Cup group stage away to League 1 side Kelty Hearts after a goalless draw in West Fife. Will they upset the odds today and beat the reigning champions? Thumbs up for yes below, thumbs down for no. Kilmarnock v Celtic (15: 00) Celtic have scored seven goals in their latest two visits to Rugby Park since a 2-1 defeat in December 2023. Since then, the Glasgow side are unbeaten in six against today's hosts and have won the latest five, including a 5-1 thrashing at Celtic Park last time out in April. Kilmarnock v Celtic (15: 00) Cillian Sheridan Former Celtic striker on BBC Sportsound I'm sure the Celtic players will be tired of all the noise. But the football hasn't been good enough to overshadow all of that to the standards Celtic expect. Some Celtic fans are making their views clear to the club hierarchy Kilmarnock v Celtic (15: 00) Brendan Rodgers has "no qualms" about handing a first start to 19-year-old Colby Donovan in place of injured Scotland right-back Anthony Ralston. "He's a young player, I've been really impressed with his personality, " the Celtic boss tells BBC Scotland. "He's still got a lot to learn, but I feel like I can put him in and it won't faze him. " "I don't want to put too much pressure on these young players. Because of the situation, there's a lot of focus on them. I'm very sure, with time, they will be very good players for Celtic. " Scotland left-back Kieran Tierney is only fit enough for the bench, but Rodgers says he will play some part and adds: "The team have been very good defensively, so hopefully we continue with that and add that attacking spot to our game. " New signing Sebastian Tounekti makes his Celtic debut Kilmarnock v Celtic (15: 00) For all their troubles, Celtic remain unbeaten over 90 minutes in their seven games so far this season. Their only defeat came on penalties to Kairat Almaty in their Champions League play-off, but their two goalless draws with the Kazakhs, together with the draw last time out with Rangers, means they have only won once in four outings - and failed to score in three of them. Not the dominating performances demanded by Brendan Rodgers and Celtic fans. Kilmarnock v Celtic (15: 00) Kilmarnock manager Stuart Kettlewell tells BBC Scotland: "Don't think there's ever is a good time [to play Celtic]. We're playing against a team undefeated in the league who haven't conceded a goal. "There's never an easy time to get Celtic. A lot the noise I don't buy into. "We need to show the best version of Kilmarnock. We need to have organisation but belief in how we attack them. We've worked hard this week, we've worked tirelessly. "The players have been great, but it's all about execution. " Kilmarnock v Celtic (15: 00) Tom English BBC Scotland chief sports writer At the away end, a banner has just been put up - Sack The Board. The first manifestation of the Celtic fans' ire. The first of many, you'd imagine. Kilmarnock v Celtic (15: 00) Kheredine Idessane BBC Scotland at Rugby Park A fair few Celtic fans have taken their seats in the Chadwick Stand already, meaning the planned protest against the board doesn't have universal support. Which is the feeling I got from speaking to supporters outside. They don't have a problem with those who won't take their seats until the 12th minute, but the stand is about a fifth full and it's only gone 14. 35. Kilmarnock v Celtic (15: 00) Celtic's internal troubles meant that Brendan Rodgers did not even mention today's opponents once during Friday's media conference - and there was little mention of them in our pre-match interview either. Opposite number Stuart Kettlewell will have been happy to make his preparations out of the media spotlight and has been saying he and his players will ignore "exterior noise" surrounding today's visitors. More of the Kilmarnock boss in a moment. Kilmarnock v Celtic (15: 00) Brendan Rodgers is backing Daizen Maeda to put behind him the disappointment of missing out on a transfer out of Celtic. "Consistently over his time here, he's shown he's a great player, " the manager says. "It's a management situation with him. He's a great guy and an honest guy. "I've known about his situation for many months. I can't tell the media, but I knew where he was at. He is here and I expect him to get his head around that and show his very best for Celtic again. " Kilmarnock v Celtic (15: 00) Tom English BBC Scotland chief sports writer So many interesting sub-plots today, one of them being Daizen Maeda. How is the Japan forward feeling after being denied a move that Brendan Rodgers said would have been attractive to himself and his family because Celtic couldn't get a replacement in? They've known he was keen on a move for some time. They've had lots of notice. Maeda has done everything right in all of this, but he's still here. He has a lot to get his head around. Kilmarnock v Celtic (15: 00) Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers says "I fully understand" the frustrations of the fans that led to today's planned protest. "You can't tell anyone how to feel, " he tells BBC Scotland. "If you're bringing your kids and you want them to be in the stands for the start of the game then supporters are within their rights. "It's managing the situation and getting the team to play how we want to. "Once the market closed, my intention is to focus on the football. There are other things that are not for briefing now, but it's been a summer of learning. Going forward, my concentration is on the team and managing the situation to bring us all back together again. "We're keen to make the football united and the spirit of the team. The fans and the board and the situation, I fully understand it and the frustration. " It is just as well for Celtic that city rivals Rangers are experiencing even more turmoil than themselves. At least Rodgers' side, despite lacklustre performances, are not languishing third bottom of the table and witnesses large-scale fan pressure to axe their team boss. However, yesterday's 2-0 defeat for Rangers at Ibrox means Hearts have emerged as Celtic's main early season rivals for the title and Rodgers' side need a win in Ayrshire if they are not to finish the weekend dropping to second place. Rangers were left disappointed against Hearts on Saturday Kilmarnock v Celtic (15: 00) Kheredine Idessane BBC Scotland at Rugby Park All is quiet in and around Rugby Park at the moment. That's unlikely to last long. Celtic fans are expected here in numbers and those taking part in the protest against the board will be allowed to gather in the concourse before taking their seats on 12 minutes. Kilmarnock supporters might fancy their side's chances, with the champions underwhelming so far by their own admission. The home fans haven't seen their side lose yet in 90 minutes this season. That said, Killie are yet to win in the Premiership. Don't go anywhere. This is likely to be another fascinating afternoon in Scotland's top flight. Kilmarnock v Celtic (15: 00) Kilmarnock boss Stuart Kettlewell makes three changes from the side that drew 2-2 away to Motherwell. Former Ross County right-back James Brown makes his debut, while long-serving Rory Mc Kenzie is in midfield and Marcus Dackers is up front. Talented 18-year-old full-back Ben Brannan will be a big miss for Kilmarnock through injury, as will Brad Lyons in midfield, while striker Bruce Anderson drops to the bench. Striker Bruce Anderson (right) is on Kilmarnock's bench Kilmarnock v Celtic (15: 00) Sebastian Tounekti, the winger signed from Hammarby, is handed an immediate start by Celtic, but fellow new arrival Kelechi Iheanacho, the former Sevilla striker, has to settle for a place on the bench. He is joined there by Kieran Tierney, this game coming too soon after his withdrawal from the Scotland squad through injury. Marcelo Saracchi, on loan from Boca Juniors, takes the former Arsenal man's place at left-back, while 19-year-old Colby Donovan also makes his first start on the right in place of injured Scotland international Anthony Ralston. Arne Engels is the one making way for Tounekti following the 0-0 draw with Rangers last time out. Kilmarnock v Celtic (15: 00) In addition to fan protests at the Celtic board, an article , externalalso emerged last week from an unknown Cetic insider saying manager Brendan Rodgers was attempting to "engineer his way out" of his contract, which runs until next summer. The Northern Irishman addressed the issue at Friday's pre-match media conference, where he called for the "coward" inside the club who briefed a media report against him to leave the Scottish champions. Will there be any further twists to the story today? Match report to appear here. Last Updated 14th September 2025 at 15: 00 Please Note: All times UK. Tables are subject to change.
