Some really good first touch football from Reading, Marriott has absolutely fizzed it, it's gone at the rate of knots, the keeper was nowhere near it. An early goal in the first half and now an early goal in the second half, the fans are very happy with that one. Jack Marriott (52 mins) The Royals double their lead! And it's Jack Marriott against his former side, shooting from the edge of the box. His effort flies beautifully into the right-hand side of the net, what a start to the second half by Leam Richardson's side! Reading 1-0 Luton Town Luton have a huge chance to score but the Royals defence work really well to keep the ball out. A loose pass across the top of the Reading box falls to Shayden Morris who plays a give and go before shooting in space on the edge of the box. But Royals defender Derrick Williams throws himself at the shot and makes a brilliant block. Reading 1-0 Luton Luton will win 2-1 but we need to press Reading straight away. Hopefully we can get the win. Will, Flitwick Reading 1-0 Luton Town The teams are back out and Edward Duckworth blows his whistle to get the second half underway. Kick-off 15: 00 GMT, unless stated There is a bit of a staggered programme in League One this weekend with Reading and Luton getting a head start on their rivals in the third tier. Friday Saturday HT: Reading 1-0 Luton Luke Ashmead BBC Three Counties Radio sport We've all been critical but we're finishing off this first half with a certain amount of positivity, there's been some good things in that first half of football. Jordan Clark certainly has that X-factor for Luton. HT: Reading 1-0 Luton Town As we break let's bring a story to your attention from earlier today about Reading. The Royals have been served with a winding-up petition by their former chief executive over what he said is lost earnings or money owed to him amounting to £99, 614. Nigel Howe, who worked at the club for 29 years, said he was "disappointed that it has come to this", following a hearing in November. You can read more about this story here. HT: Reading 1-0 Luton Mick Gooding Ex-Reading player/manager on BBC Radio Berkshire The manager will be very pleased, I have to say that Pereira has pulled off two very good saves but other than that Reading have looked very comfortable in that first half. Luton huff and puff, they keep the ball well, but they don't get enough players in the box. They're a bit too intricate, they try to walk the ball in but Reading have defended well. Reading 1-0 Luton Town After a couple of long Reading throws were comfortably dealt with by Luton and no real chances of note for either side in injury time, the referee blows for half time. Reading are ahead thanks to Lewis Wing's strike from the penalty spot after Daniel Kyerewaa was brought down in the box by Hatters keeper Josh Keeley. The travelling Luton fans boo as the whistle sounds, not happy with their side's performance after 45 minutes. Reading 1-0 Luton Town We hit the 45-minute mark and the fourth official indicates there will be five minutes of added time. The visitors are having to make an enforced change here as Kal Naismith is coming off for Shayden Morris after picking up an injury. Reading 1-0 Luton Town Luton's Kal Naismith makes a poor challenge on Randell Williams, lunging from behind and gives away a foul but is perhaps a little lucky to not be booked. From the resulting free-kick the ball is crossed into the box by Lewis Wing and headed down before both Josh Keeley and Jeriel Dorsett try and pick up possession. The Luton keeper gets there first and Dorsett jumps to try and avoid the player but is caught as he launches himself and acrobatically flips before landing awkwardly. Thankfully he looks to be okay after taking a moment. Reading 1-0 Luton Geoff Doyle Commentator on BBC Three Counties Radio Luton are undeservedly a goal down here, they probably deserve to be ahead, let alone level, they look much better than they did in the Orient game. This is the best I've seen them play in a while, but they do find themselves trailing. Reading 1-0 Luton Town Luton have another chance to score but Joel Pereira is on hand to make another brilliant save. Cohen Bramall has a shot low from the edge of the box but Pereira gets down well to keep it out and gather the ball before the onrushing Luton players could get there. He appears to have hurt himself in the process and while he receives some treatment both sides take another brief break. Reading 1-0 Luton Town Luton's Nakhi Wells has a low shot from the edge of the box which is well saved by Reading keeper Joel Pereira. Luton have continued to enjoy the majority of possession in this game but Reading boss Leam Richardson will be happy with his side's performance after 30 minutes. Reading 1-0 Luton Town A little bit of a worry here for Luton Town as Lamine Fanne has gone down. The Luton midfielder lunged in for a challenge with Reading defender Paudie O'Connor and appeared to come off second best. After a short break for Fanne to receive some treatment we get the game back under way, he is on his feet and looks okay to continue for now. Reading 1-0 Luton Luke Ashmead BBC Three Counties Radio sport It's not been a game stacked with quality, but I think there's goals in this. There's been enough from Luton to be positive about, the team feels like it has a slightly better balance to it. Reading 1-0 Luton Town Kamari Doyle shows some more ability on the ball as he beats a man and then plays the ball over the top for Randell Williams to race on to. But the Reading man is just beaten to the ball outside the box by Josh Keeley who this time deals well with the situation. Reading 1-0 Luton Town Reading's Jack Marriott runs in behind the opposition backline and takes the ball well but the assistant referee raises his flag for offside. Moments later, Kamari Doyle shows some good feet to escape a Luton midfielder before playing in Daniel Kyerewaa down the left. He dashes down the line and then looks to return the ball to Doyle but his pass falls short and is cleared. Reading 1-0 Luton Mick Gooding Ex-Reading player/manager on BBC Radio Berkshire It's goals that count, goals change games. We know that you can have all the possession in the world, but unless you are creating chances to score, it doesn't mean much. Last Updated 18th December 2025 at 21: 58 Please Note: All times UK.
