Meslier, 25, has started every league game for Leeds this season but despite saving a penalty against Swansea on Saturday, his mistakes cost Farke’s side victory. ‘It’s been important that we had clarity earlier in the week, so Karl could concentrate on this, ’ said Farke. ‘It's the right time for this decision to protect Illan and give him a breather but we trust Karl so much and his quality. I am convinced it's the right decision. ' Meslier has made numerous errors this season and Farke insisted that he was always reluctant to change his keeper. ‘Karl is buzzing, but it’s more difficult for Illan, ’ he said. ‘We all know Illan has had a difficult season. I was always honest about this. With a goalkeeper, you are more careful to change than an outfield player. ’ Darlow, 34, will start his first league game since December 2023 when Meslier was suspended.
