They're firmly on course to become the first club in Football League history to lose eight games in a row at home without scoring. Let's watch back those Newcastle goals. Look away now if you're a Leicester supporter. There goes the whistle. Loud boos ring out around the King Power. Leicester have been atrocious but Newcastle have been ruthlessly professional. They have three goals but will surely score more. What can Ruud van Nistelrooy even say at this point? Supporters flooded for the exits and I'm not sure if they'll be back. We're into two additional minutes. Jacob Murphy's cross drifted behind for a goal kick. I'm pretty sure it wasn't a shot but at this point who knows? Eddie Howe looks very composed on the touchline. How often do you see THAT? Unbelievable. Jamie Vardy teed up Patson Daka and his low strike hit the inside of the left post before rolling across the line and bounced off the other. Nick Pope then gathered gratefully into his chest. When it rains, it pours. Inches wide by Alexander Isak. It was so sloppy again after James Justin gifted possession away, but the striker couldn't capitalise. Mads Hermansen scrambled across. How many more goals will Newcastle get tonight? It could end up a cricket score at the King Power. Off target by Jamie Vardy. So many Leicester supporters are flooding into the concourses for an early pint. Or are they heading home? Honestly, could you blame them? Newcastle have a third - and it had to be that man! Joelinton's low strike was parried by Mads Hermansen but Harvey Barnes was on hand to tap home into the empty net. It was a very muted celebration. What a horrific first half from Leicester. Much better by Leicester. Bilal El Khannouss pulled the trigger from a tight angle, forcing Nick Pope to palm behind for a corner. Jamie Vardy was on hand but it would have been a difficult pass. Leicester won a couple of corners over on the far side after some good, incisive play, but Newcastle cleared on both occasions. Patson Daka took matters into his own hands and charged through the heart of Newcastle's midfield before going down. He was certainly caught by Sandro Tonali but the referee was unmoved. Looked a foul to me. .. strange. Newcastle should have three. Bruno Guimaraes released Harvey Barnes down the left and his right-footed effort was blocked superbly by Conor Coady. Barnes' corner was poor and played straight to the feet of a Leicester player. That brought the biggest home cheer of the night. Victor Kristiansen floated a ball toward the back post for Patson Daka but he couldn't get a proper contact on it to divert it goalwards. They haven't been able to string more than three passes together. Two touches for Jacob Murphy in Leicester's box. Two goals. What a start it's been for the Champions League-chasing visitors. Kieran Trippier delivered the free-kick into the box but it was pretty harmless, allowing Mads Hermansen to collect unchallenged. Wilfried Ndidi has gone into the book after bringing down Tino Livramento. He trudged away with his head down. Wide from Alexander Isak. Leicester are down and out already. Sandro Tonali played through the striker, whose effort was whipped into the side netting. I can't believe how easy that was. WHAT. IS. GOING. ON. This is such a bizarre goal. Fabian Schar almost scored from the halfway line but his audacious effort looped over Mads Hermansen and cracked back off the crossbar. Jacob Murphy was quickest to react and he collected the rebound before sweeping into the net. Horrific defending again. Cue more boos. The hosts have responded well to falling behind. A low cross caused a bit of confusion in Newcastle's box but as Patson Daka took a swing, he connected with Dan Burn at the cost of a foul. Nick Pope rushed out of his penalty area to beat Luke Thomas to the ball after it was lofted down the touchline. Leicester fired a couple of crosses into Newcastle's box as they looked for an immediate response but they were dealt with easily enough. That, folks, is why Leicester are currently going down with a whimper. It really was dreadful defending. The back five were too flat and static. The away end is in full voice. All of that early optimism from the hosts has been undone already. It was so, so easy and Ruud van Nistelrooy is furious. Harvey Barnes laid off for Tino Livramento down the right and the full back fizzed in a cross to the far post, where Jacob Murphy touched in. Boos are ringing out around the ground already. The official time on the clock: 1 minute and 53 seconds. CHANCE! My word. Jamie Vardy was released down this near side and forced Nick Pope to parry away at his near post inside the first 30 seconds. PEEEEEP! Leicester have got us underway. The players have emerged from the tunnel at the King Power. Let's get some score predictions, folks. Newcastle boss Eddie Howe, speaking to Sky Sports: This doesn't bode well for Leicester. .. Alexander Isak has scored eight goals in his last six league appearances against sides starting the day in the relegation zone. That includes five in his last two after his hat-trick against Ipswich in December and brace against Southampton in January. Leicester have lost their last seven league games and haven't scored a single goal in any of them while conceding 18 in the process. In fact, they've suffered defeat in 14 of their last 15 in the top-flight. I think it's fair to say the appointment of Ruud van Nistelrooy hasn't had the desired effect. Does he part ways with the club this summer? Leicester have 17 points, just seven more than Southampton, whose relegation back to the Championship was confirmed yesterday. Ruud van Nistelrooy's side do have a game in hand, however. That means the earliest they could go down is April 20, when they face leaders Liverpool, provided they don't pick up any more points. Ipswich's fate could then be sealed the following week. It's a very grim, and underwhelming, picture in the drop zone. Alexander Isak is fit to start, meaning Newcastle are unchanged from the side which beat Brentford. Kieran Trippier and Joelinton also keep their places after passing fitness checks of their own while Matt Targett is on the bench. Winger Harvey Barnes will face his former club with Anthony Gordon not yet fit enough to return to the fold. Ruud van Nistelrooy has named the same starting XI which was beaten 2-0 by Manchester City on Wednesday night. As much as it looks like Leicester are down and out, there is so much on the line for Newcastle this evening. A win would send them fifth, above Manchester City and into what looks certain to be an extra Champions League place. They would need a huge swing in goal difference to leapfrog Chelsea in fourth, but Eddie Howe will be delighted they're firmly in the mix. The hosts can close the gap on 17th-placed Wolves to 12 points with a victory, though their recent form and the odds are not in their favour. This is the question on the lips of every Newcastle supporter tonight. Alexander Isak picked up a groin injury during the midweek win over Brentford and the club were waiting anxiously to see if he could play. We'll have the answer in just five minutes. Expect a collective gulp from the home crowd if he does start. It looks like it's just a matter of time for Leicester now. Southampton were the first club relegated back to the Championship and Ruud van Nistelrooy's side are odds-on to join them soon. They're 15 points adrift of safety and have a goal difference of -42 as they approach the end of what has been a truly horrific season. Tonight is a chance to save some face and bring an end to their streak of seven straight defeats at the King Power. But Newcastle are on the hunt for a Champions League spot and, fresh from their Carabao Cup win, can go fifth - or fourth - with a win. Let's get started.
