Nottingham Forest are preparing a bid for Ipswich defender Leif Davis, talk SPORT understands. Ipswich have already rejected offers from Premier League clubs for left-back Davis this summer. The 25-year-old Englishman played the full 90 minutes during Ipswich’s 1-1 draw at Birmingham on Friday night. He featured 33 times in the Premier League during the 2024/25 campaign as the Tractor Boys suffered immediate relegation back to the Championship. Ipswich are facing a separate battle to keep England Under-21 winger Omari Hutchinson – who has also attracted interest from Forest. The club reportedly rejected a £35million bid from the Reds earlier this week. Hutchinson missed the Championship opener due to a medical issue and manager Kieran Mc Kenna admitted the 21-year-old has potential suitors, with Brentford also thought to be interested. Speaking before the Birmingham game, Mc Kenna said: “He [Hutchinson] had interest from different clubs, but there’s nothing really to update. “The club has real goals this season and everyone who’s an Ipswich player at the moment has to be fully ready to contribute to those and be ready to help us have a successful year. ” The Tricky Trees have been quiet in the transfer window so far - with their most notable arrival being winger Dan Ndoye. The Switzerland international was signed from Bologna in a deal worth £34m. It follows the £55m sale of forward Anthony Elanga to Newcastle. Forest have also signed striker Igor Jesus and centre-back Jair Cunha from Brazilian side Botafogo for a combined £27m. Meanwhile, goalkeeper Angus Gunn recently joined on a free transfer after leaving Norwich. Perhaps most importantly though, Forest agreed a new deal with star midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White earlier this summer. The 25-year-old looked set to join Tottenham after the north London club tried to trigger his £60m release clause. However, Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis publicly blocked the move, and persuaded Gibbs-White to stay by making him the highest-paid player in the club's history. talk SPORT understands the England star's new £150, 000-a-week, three-year contract does not include a release clause, potentially keeping him at the City Ground for the long haul. © 2025 talk SPORT Limited
