Leroy Sane is set to leave Bayern Munich and join Galatasaray, talk SPORT understands. The Germany international was previously reported to be a target for Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea, with his contract with the Bundesliga giants expiring at the end of the month. Sane's future has been the subject of plenty of speculation this summer, with a move to north London at one point looking a possibility. talk SPORT previously revealed the Gunners had made an enquiry about signing the winger, before opting to weigh up their options, while the player had wanted a more immediate resolution. And Sane now appears to have decided against a move back to the Premier League, having left Manchester City for Bayern in 2020. The 29-year-old has agreed a three-year deal with Galatasaray, which will see him pocket an eye-watering sum of money. He is expected to earn between £10-£11million per season in Turkey, a slight drop on his reported £12. 5m annual salary with Bayern. Sane's decision to join the Turkish champions comes after he rejected a three-year contract extension with his current employers. Despite the player's agent initially claiming to have held positive talks with the Bavarian outfit, Sky Germany have since revealed Sane turned down an improved offer of a new deal. And with his next destination now seemingly decided, this means the German will not be joining Bayern for their Club World Cup campaign, which begins on Sunday against Auckland City. Sane's imminent move to Galatasaray represents a major coup for the Istanbul outfit. The club have been keen to bolster their attacking options after Victor Osimhen's loan from Napoli came to an end, with this piece of business a major signal of intent. Sane boasts plenty of pedigree, having more than proven his worth at Bayern after joining on a five-year contract in 2020 after four seasons with Man City. He won two Premier League titles under Pep Guardiola at the Etihad, and was named the PFA Young Player of the Year in 2018. The Schalke youth product then joined Bayern for an initial €49m (£41m), plus €11m in add-ons. Following his return to Germany, he has won four Bundesliga titles in five years at Bayern. Their latest league triumph this season was the eighth trophy of his spell after also winning the Club World Cup in 2020. In his final season in Munich, Sane scored 13 goals and added six assists in 45 appearances across all competitions. Overall, he has netted 61 goals and registered 55 assists in 220 matches for the club, being a regular fixture in the starting line-up despite several changes in management during this time. Sane has played under Hansi Flick, Thomas Tuchel, Julian Nagelsmann and most recently, his former City captain Kompany in his five years at Bayern. News of the forward next move will come as a blow to Arsenal, who will hope to have better luck in their pursuit of striker target Benjamin Sesko. The Gunners are understood to have stepped up their interest in the RB Leipzig attacker, choosing to prioritise his signature ahead of Sporting Lisbon goal machine Viktor Gyokeres. © 2025 talk SPORT Limited
