Modric, who spent a dazzling 12 years at Real Madrid, is closing in on a switch to the San Siro, confirmed club director Igli Tare. The Croatian will turn 40 in September and it remains to be seen if he will be used as a regular starter, but he wants to keep playing to have a chance of going to next year's World Cup in the US. He is currently playing with Real on a short extended deal for the duration of the Club World Cup. 'We are ready to bring in Luka Modrić, we need new leaders, ' Tare told Gazzetta dello Sport. He added: 'Modrić can be a key player for us and he asked about being competitive, winning titles… we are on it.
