FT: Man City 3-0 Man Utd Manchester United More from Manchester United boss Marc Skinner to BBC Sport, on how costly two defeats in a row are for their title hopes: "We'll see at the end of the season. I still think you can catch them. I don't see anything exceptional with them. They're very good in the front line and can punish anyone but I think you can catch them. I think we've got to make up a gap. What we need to do is use the winter window to recruit the people we need to help to support this team. " On whether he already has targets in mind: "For sure, I've got targets all the time. I think we will continue to chip away at them. Hopefully we can bring players in who just adapt us. We need adaptation. If I could have brought that in in an earlier point then I think we could have turned the game around, even at 3-0. " FT: Man City 3-0 Man Utd Manchester United Manchester United manager Marc Skinner, speaking to BBC Sport: "We deserved it. We gave City those goals. It's a set piece where we didn't get first contact or second contact, that's on us. Then we don't defend a run into the box. Then we play out from the back when we should probably kick it. "It wasn't like they dominated us, that's the scary thing. I felt this is a City team where you can get at them and I'm disappointed we didn't do that today. " On the impact of having to rotate the squad: "I'm sure it has a part to play. That's on us and the players to come together to make sure we fix the solution. What is key is that we have different skillsets so we have to play the games differently. I want a Manchester United team to be an invasive team, I want us to threaten the opponent all the time and I don't think we did that in the first half. We get into decent positions but we need to be better. I'm more disappointed in the way we reacted than thinking Manchester City ran away with it. " FT: Man City 3-0 Man Utd Manchester City Manchester City manager Andree Jeglertz, speaking to BBC Sport, on managing in his first Manchester derby: "Fantastic. I wouldn't say I enjoyed it because it was so intense in the game. Just looking at the performance in general and the result, it's a great experience. " On saying there was still room for improvement at the break: "I think that's maybe my leadership but also the group atmosphere. We sometimes also need to take a step and enjoy what we're doing. It's always about what we can do better, what we can improve and so on. " On the defence's performance: "I think we struggled a little bit in the last game about getting a solid defending part. For us to get a clean sheet and not concede that many opportunities for them is a big boost for the future. " FT: Man City 3-0 Man Utd Let's go back to the Etihad to hear the verdict from both managers, starting with a very happy Andree Jeglertz, who claimed a big win in his first Manchester derby in charge. FT: Man City 3-0 Man Utd That derby day demolition for City moves them four points clear of Chelsea at the summit, with the champions off to face Liverpool tomorrow. United are now seven points behind their neighbours in the title race. Arsenal can leapfrog them into third with a win in Sunday's north London derby. FT: Man City 3-0 Man Utd Steph Houghton Former Manchester City and England captain on BBC One I think you look at the performance against PSG and that was the level they've set themselves. I thought Melvine Malard was the difference maker when she came on. It was really disappointing for Manchester United standards. FT: Man City 3-0 Man Utd Manchester United Manchester United defender Dominique Janssen, speaking to BBC Sport: "We didn't start off great. I think we were way too passive. The goals we conceded were way too easy. We have to just assess it and look at it. We know we have to do better next time. " On what the players said at the end: "We said it's not good enough and we have to review it together. It's not going to be a nice review but we have to do it to get better. The next game is coming quick so we have to get ready and go on. " On needing to pick themselves up before playing Wolfsburg in the Champions League on Wednesday: "It's good that we have a quick turnaround because that way we know we can only do better. We know it's a big game, it's an important game. Just head's up, review it and move on. " FT: Man City 3-0 Man Utd Anita Asante Former Arsenal defender on BBC One It's a big gap now for them to try and catch up. This is the first season where they've really had to manage a squad over multiple competitions. I think they'll bounce back. FT: Man City 3-0 Man Utd Manchester United Manchester United failed to attempt a shot on target in this game, it's the first time they failed to attempt a shot on target in a game in the Women's Super League since facing Chelsea on 18th May 2024. FT: Man City 3-0 Man Utd Manchester City Manchester City goalscorer Lauren Hemp, speaking to BBC Sport: "I absolutely loved it. It's so nice to be back with all the girls. Today we showed the mentality that we needed to show. We got a clean sheet as well which is so important for us and, most importantly, we got the three points. " On how excited fans should get about City being four points clear: "It's so exciting. It's important we stay humble. We know where we're at and we're in a good place as a team. Hopefully we'll continue this run. " FT: Man City 3-0 Man Utd Let's get some instant reaction from the Etihad as Lauren Hemp has just been speaking to BBC Sport's Jo Currie. FT: Man City 3-0 Man Utd Lauren Hemp has been announced as the WSL Player of the Match after her all action display. Here's the numbers behind her performance as she sparkled on her first league start since September. FT: Man City 3-0 Man Utd Rachel Brown-Finnis Former England goalkeeper on BBC One Manchester City keep this juggernaut moving, wanting to take advantage of a comparatively bare schedule. They were convincing. Some players back to their best, the likes of Lauren Hemp, Vivianne Miedema, Khadija Shaw. Who's to say that they are stoppable? They look a different animal to last year. Man City 3-0 Man Utd Three goals, three points and a clean sheet to cap off a perfect derby day triumph for Man City. The blue moon rises higher over the Women's Super League as they extend their lead at the top of the table to four points. It's a bitter day for rivals United who lose back to back league games for the first time since March 2024. Man City 3-0 Man Utd We tick past the allotted seven added minutes after that earlier clash of heads. Not long to go now before City's derby spoils are confirmed. Iman Beney almost added a fourth for them there after a mix up in the United defence, but it rolled wide of the bottom corner. Man City 3-0 Man Utd The Man City stadium PA has just announced Vivianne Miedema as the supporter's player of the match. She may not have got on the scoresheet today but she's been a master conductor in the midfield, directing all of the attacking impetus for the blues in this dominant win. Man City 3-0 Man Utd To confirm Awujo has indeed taken her seat back on the United bench after that clash of heads. City defender Rose is back on for now, seemingly having cleared the rigorous concussion protocol checks. Man City 3-0 Man Utd Hannah Blundell can't believe her luck as the latest United corner falls to her in acres of space in the box. Her finish echoes her surprise as she is slow to react and scuffs it wide of the target. This video can not be played Hemp hits 'absolute rocket' to give Man City 3-0 lead At a glance Lauren Hemp thumps the ball into the top left corner on her first start since ankle injury she suffered in September Rebecca Knaak and Khadija Shaw also score in dominant first half for Manchester City Jess Park starts for Manchester United on her return to former club PLAYER RATINGS Lauren Hemp scored on her first start since September as Women's Super League leaders Manchester City brushed aside rivals Manchester United at Etihad Stadium. It was a complete performance from Andree Jeglertz's side, who were three goals to the good by half-time with United failing to record a shot on target. The pick of the bunch was Hemp's powerful strike which made it 3-0, two minutes after Khadija Shaw slid in to divert Kerstin Casparij's cross into the back of the net. City defender Rebecca Knaak had opened the scoring in the 26th minute, nodding Shaw's header back across goal from Hemp's corner. Hemp, who picked up an ankle injury on 19 September, was back to her brilliant best with a display that will please England manager Sarina Wiegman going into upcoming international friendlies against China and Ghana. Victory extends City's lead at the top of the table to four points, but Chelsea can close the gap when they travel to struggling Liverpool on Sunday (12: 00 GMT). A tired-looking Manchester United have fallen seven points off the pace, which will come as a blow following their impressive win over Paris St-Germain in Europe this week. Marc Skinner's side do not have long to lick their wounds, with European giants Wolfsburg up next, and they will have to improve if they are to bounce back. This video can not be played Knaak heads in opener for Man City in derby City have enjoyed life under new manager Jeglertz and were sat cosy at the top of the WSL table before kick-off, knowing a win at the Etihad would boost their position. With new-found fluidity in the side and a welcome return to the starting XI for England winger Hemp – who played 40 minutes from the bench against Everton - City were favourites. They did not waste any time in confirming their status as the WSL's team to beat as Hemp announced her return with a sparkling display, causing United problems throughout. Vivianne Miedema linked up superbly with Shaw in the early stages and Laura Blindkilde Brown outshone her United counterpart Jess Park – the former City midfielder returning to the Etihad for the first time since joining their rivals in the summer. It was another brilliant display from full-back Casparij, whose fizzing cross set up Shaw's goal to make it 2-0, before she teed up Hemp's thunderous strike on the stroke of half-time. Defender Knaak had expertly nodded in the opener when Shaw picked her out with a header across goal early on, capitalising on City's instant dominance. With a strong 3-0 lead, City were able to take their foot off the gas in the second half, conserving energy for what they hope will be a lengthy reign at the top of the table this season. They have fallen short on too many occasions during Chelsea's domestic dominance of late, but City have shown they have what it takes to win the WSL if they can maintain their high performances. Having seen off PSG in their first Women's Champions League game at Old Trafford on Wednesday, United came into the derby full of confidence but perhaps low on energy. It's new territory for United and Skinner - to manage a squad on multiple fronts and play against big-hitting opposition with just two days' rest. There were four changes to the starting XI, including the return of playmaker Ella Toone and forward Elisabeth Terland, but from the first minute they couldn't match the energy of Manchester City. Boosted by the return of Hemp, City's frontline immediately put United under pressure as right-back Jayde Riviere was given a torrid opening 45 minutes. Hinata Miyazawa did her best to pull the strings in midfield but there was very little opportunity for United to push forward, having been pinned inside their own half for much of the match. They failed to record a shot on target by half-time - a worrying statistic for a team who found themselves 3-0 down and short of ideas at Etihad Stadium. Returning midfielder Park fired an effort off the outside of the post in the second half but it was City who looked more likely to extend their lead, with Shaw coming close twice later on. United have had a strong start to the campaign but back-to-back WSL defeats has harmed their early title challenge and they will welcome the international break coming up to regroup. Manchester City are away at Nottingham Forest in the Women's League Cup group stages on Saturday, 22 November (14: 00 GMT). Their next WSL game is at Leicester on Sunday, 7 December (12: 00). Manchester United return to Champions League action when they travel to Wolfsburg on Wednesday, 19 November (17: 45) and are back in the WSL against West Ham at home on Sunday, 7 December (12: 00).
