Crisis-club Wednesday are in the throes of trying to find new owners and Premier League clubs have sensed an opportunity with 17-year-old Alao still to commit to a professional contract. The teenager has impressed scouts from top flight clubs with his performances at youth level which have been rewarded with a place in the first team. He made his debut as a 16-year-old in the Carabao Cup back in August and made his league debut early this month against Derby County, replacing Harry Amass, who is on loan from Manchester United, as a late substitute in a 0–3 defeat. United have lodged a bid in the region of £450, 000 for the Doncaster-born defender while Liverpool are believed to be weighing up a similar offer. Other clubs are waiting in the wings. Wednesday are also attempting to tie down Alao's team-mate Will Grainger to a professional deal.  The teenage striker is also drawing attention from top flight clubs.
