By MICHAEL PAVITT, SPORTS REPORTER Published: 10: 55 AEDT, 26 November 2025 | Updated: 10: 55 AEDT, 26 November 2025 17 View comments Man United flop Rasmus Hojlund recent struggles in front of goal continued as the forward missed a penalty for Napoli in the Champions League, but Scott Mc Tominay was on target in their win over Qarabag. Hojlund had made a strong start to his loan spell with reigning Italian champions Napoli, scoring five times in his opening six matches, but has seen his form dip in recent weeks. The Danish forward, whose move will become permanent for £38m next summer, has now failed to score for Napoli since the start of October. Hojlund had the chance to get back among the goals after Napoli were awarded a penalty against Qarabag in the Champions League on Tuesday. The forward stepped up to take a penalty in the 56th minute following a foul by Marko Jankovic on Giovanni Di Lorenzo in the box. Hojlund fired a powerfully left footed effort from 12 yards, but the Dane saw his spot-kick superbly saved by goalkeeper Mateusz Kochalski. Hojlund had missed several chances prior to the penalty, as Napoli struggled to make the breakthrough. The Italian champions eventually broke the deadlock against their Azerbaijani opponents, with Mc Tominay opening the scoring. Kochalski had reacted impressively to prevent a Qarabag defender scoring an own goal from a corner in the 65th minute, but the goalkeeper was only able to push the ball out towards Mc Tominay. Mc Tominay was on hand to head the ball beyond Kochalski to put Napoli 1-0 up in the league phase match. The Scottish midfielder, whose stunning overhead kick helped his nation qualify for the World Cup last week, also played a key role in Napoli's second. Mc Tominay had attempt to score with another acrobatic effort, but on this occasion it was diverted into his own net by Jankovic in the 72nd minute. Napoli went on to seal a 2-0 victory. Scott Mc Tominay came to Hojlund's rescue by opening the scoring with a close range header Guess who! ? A top 24 finish would earn Napoli a place in the play-offs at the end of the league phase. Conte's side currently have seven points from their first five matches in the Champions League. Surprise package Qarabag currently lie 16th in the table despite the defeat.
