By LUKE POWER, SPORTS REPORTER Published: 02: 35 AEST, 26 September 2025 | Updated: 02: 35 AEST, 26 September 2025 18 View comments Matthijs de Ligt's estranged wife has intensified her spiritual lifestyle - despite it reportedly driving a wedge between them in their fledgling marriage.   Anne Kee de Ligt, nee Molenaar, runs an alchemy brand and regularly shares images of crystals, tarot cards, and self-affirming quotations on her Instagram page.   It emerged in July that tension in their union had arisen over her lifestyle, with Dutch outlet Den D reporting that it was 'definitely over'. Manchester United defender De Ligt, 26, could apparently 'can no longer handle Annekee's exaggerated "spiriwiri-content"', according to Realityfbi.   De Ligt and model Anna Kee got married in June 2024 after years of dating, right from when he was a teenager at Ajax, and she has accompanied him to Manchester after he joined United last year.   But her lifestyle should come as little surprise to him, given that she was posting spiritual content long before he proposed a year earlier in 2023.   Matthijs de Ligt's wife Anna Kee has doubled down on her spiritual practices - despite it reportedly driving a wedge between them  Anna Kee is into crystals, tarot reading, flower remedies, and alchemy, and even runs a brand focusing on the latter Matthijs can apparently 'no longer handle' the spiritual lifestyle just a year after they married - despite it being a feature of her life long before Anna Kee's Instagram page is flooded with references to energy, gemstones, fortune-telling, and other esoteric and pseudoscientific interests.   It is therefore hard to imagine that De Ligt was unaware of this dimension of her personality before popping the big question. However, it does appear that her content around that sphere has intensified recently, particularly after she launched 'Annie's Alchemia'. Alchemia is the Latin word for alchemy, a broad category, but partly known as a Middle Ages science in which individuals tried to transform regular metals into gold.   In March she passed a course dealing with flower remedies at the Bach Centre, a foundation devoted to following the practices of Dr Edward Bach, a British physician who believed that illnesses developed from a negative state of mind.   She has not featured her husband on her feed for almost two months, but one of her latest posts concentrates on her spiritual practices.   In it she announces that she attended her first-ever 'cacao ceremony', a gathering which involves drinking ceremonial-grade cacao to nourish the heart and mind.   She also shows off products connected to 'Annie's Alchemia' and a tarot card reading.   One quote in the post reads: 'Sometimes the universe takes you on a journey you didn't know you needed, to bring you everything you ever wanted. Trust the plan. ' Anna Kee regularly posts updates about her esoteric and pseudoscientific interests The model and footballer have been with each other since their teeange years when he was at Ajax Lots of Anna Kee's posts explore various remedies, energy, and spiritual quotations The couple are said to have planned a large party in Italy this summer to celebrate their anniversary, but it was cancelled.   De Ligt is also reported to have left early on the day of their wedding because he had to link up with the Netherlands squad for Euro 2024.   'It's actually funny because the way the planning for our civil wedding went is a reflection of our relationship in general, " Anne Kee once told Dutch Vogue. 'At first, we planned to get married at the end of May, on our anniversary, but then it looked like Matthijs would make it to the Champions League final with Bayern Munich. So, we had to reschedule everything at the last moment. '
