Will they be boosted by the performance tonight, or will they be scarred by the 3-3 draw earlier in the season against Hearts - when they threw away a three-goal lead? We've got live radio commentary for that, and I'd highly recommend tuning in. FT: Motherwell 2-0 Hibernian Stick with us for the reaction from Motherwell manager Jens Berthel Askou and Hibs' head coach David Gray. Really intriguing to hear what they have to say, especially Gray on that handball penalty. FT: Motherwell 2-0 Hibernian Scott Allan Former Celtic midfielder on BBC Sportsound Players look good because the structure has been simplified for them. This system is not extremely difficult, but they're being given the freedom, they're allowed to make mistakes. They're the best football team in the league to watch. They don't have the best players, but they have the best structure and it was a joy to watch. FT: Motherwell 2-0 Hibernian Lee Miller Former Falkirk manager on BBC Scotland I can see why Motherwell fans are loving it. I really enjoyed the game, although the manager might be annoyed they weren't more ruthless in the final third. But some of the football was incredible. The weight of pass, the one-touch, the decision-making. That comes from the manager. They didn't force things, that was the biggest thing. Not their prettiest, but maybe their grittiest. Thistle now sit joint on 34 points with St Johnstone, behind only on goal difference. There is now an 11-point gap between the top two and the rest of the league. Confirmation of a two-horse race? Looks like it. More to come from our reporter Kheredine Idessane. Fourth will have to do for Motherwell tonight, but it's another exceptional showing from Jens Berthel Askou's side. Although they may have gotten a bit lucky with the penalty that put them ahead, they were stupendous and stupefying for the remainder of the game. Hibs' had no answer. They soon shipped a second before Grant Hanley saw red for tripping Tawanda Maswanhise when he was through on goal. In the second-half, we saw the showboating skills of Ibrahim Said - although his manager has just told him off down on the pitch after the full-time whistle. Motherwell 2-0 Hibernian Three minutes of additional time. One more goal for Motherwell and they'd leapfrog Hibs and move into third place. Motherwell 2-0 Hibernian Utterly bizarre that any Hibs fan would call David Gray "average" after the run we had last season, and how well we did in Europe this season. Matt Hibs were shaky at the back against Dundee, no escape tonight. Bill It's been a difficult watch for Hibs head coach David Gray tonight Motherwell 2-0 Hibernian Callum Slattery has the ball on the halfway line and he has a look. .. No, he's not Kenny Mc Lean, and instead brings it forward. He slides in Regan Charles-Cook, but he blasts just over the bar. Motherwell 2-0 Hibernian It's been 25 minutes since Hibs last had a shot. Motherwell, helped by the man advantage, have been absolutely joyous to watch. Elliot Watt has had another good night, as has Stephen Welsh at the back. They're now bringing young Luca Ross on, replacing Oscar Priestman who has similarly impressed on his first start. Motherwell 2-0 Hibernian Fair play to Motherwell, battering Hibs who have no answer. Al Hard to budget for a dodgy penalty. OK, Hibs are having an off night but compared to recent predecessors David Gray has done a magnificent job since this time last year. Alan David Gray has to be questioned over his fixture planning. It backfired against Livingston and now we're feeling the after-effects. Strange at best. Paul Motherwell 2-0 Hibernian Elie Youan is on for Martin Boyle, who has trudged off the field with his captain's armband still on. Does that mean Hibs are without a captain for the final 10 minutes? Motherwell 2-0 Hibernian Big chance for Motherwell. Once again, they knock it around brilliantly with one and two-touches before Regan Charles-Cook is played in behind. He goes for goal but Raphael Sallinger makes a good save. Partick Thistle 1-0 Dunfermline Kheredine Idessane BBC Scotland at Firhill The home side's lead is hanging by a thread here at Firhill. The last 15 minutes or so have been by far Dunfermline's best spell in the game, with substitute Tashan Oakley-Boothe going close and fellow sub Chris Kane making a good impact too. The Jags have hit the post this half but have somewhat lost control of the game as the Fifers chase an equaliser. The home side needs a second for insurance. Motherwell 2-0 Hibernian Brian Mc Lauchlin BBC Sport Scotland at Fir Park It’s now a very pacy front two for Hibs with record signing Thibault Klidje partnering Martin Boyle up top and should they manage to pull one back it would make for an interesting final 20 minutes. Motherwell though look very comfortable! Motherwell 2-0 Hibernian Lee Miller Former Falkirk manager on BBC Scotland The manager is trying to get a message on to [Ibrahim] Said to stop that. He's not happy with it at all, he's not having it. Motherwell 2-0 Hibernian Callum Slattery, how close was that? ! The Motherwell midfielder skips onto his left outside the box and tries to drill one with the outside of the foot, but it curls just wide of the post. Motherwell 2-0 Hibernian Ibrahim Said has just done the most incredible bit of showboating. That's the only thing I can think to call it. He's on the ball, with a Hibs defender a yard or two away, and he leaps into the air like a salmon. He then skips away from his defender, so it does work, I guess? Partick Thistle 1-0 Dunfermline Athletic Kheredine Idessane BBC Scotland at Firhill Tashan Oakley-Boothe nearly makes an instant impact for Dunfermline, moments after coming on. As Thistle failed to clear a corner, his shot from about 10 yards is very well saved by Josh Clarke. Elijah Just celebrates making it 2-0 to Motherwell At a glance Maswanhise converts penalty after handball from Hanley Just makes it 2-0 after defensive mix-up from Hibs Hanley sent off for clip on Maswanhise just outside penalty area Motherwell up to fourth on same points as Hibs in third and Rangers Motherwell swept past 10-man Hibernian at Fir Park, moving level on points with the Edinburgh side, who hang on to third place in the Scottish Premiership after a hapless display. Tawanda Maswanhise moved to the top of the league's scoring chart on eight goals, converting a penalty given for handball against Grant Hanley. Elijah Just made it 2-0, slamming in a gift after some comical defending from the visitors. Worse was to come for Hanley when he was dismissed for clipping the heels of Maswanhise just outside the penalty area. Depleted Hibs were completely outplayed but did miss a glaring chance before the interval when Martin Boyle skipped round the goalkeeper only to see his weak flick cleared off the line by a sliding Johnny Koutroumbis. Oscar Priestman, making his first Motherwell start, clattered the post with a low shot, with Hibs chasing shadows for most of the second half. The hosts were full of flicks of tricks, with fans purring their approval, as Callum Slattery drilled an effort wide. Substitute Ibrahim Said even got a ticking off from manager Jens Berthel Askou for some showboating before crashing a shot into the side-netting, while Regan Charles-Cook forced Raphael Sallinger into a good save after another slick move. One more goal would have taken Motherwell above David Gray's demoralised men but they were content to keep a stranglehold on the game rather than chasing it. More to follow.
