Sheffield United are suddenly looking to shake things up after failing to secure promotion into the Premier League after play-off final heartbreak. Sheffield United have decided to sack Chris Wilder for the second time, having failed to gain promotion in their first season back in the Championship following relegation in the 2023/24 season. talk SPORT BET - Bet £10 get £30 in free bets - CLAIM HERE* Wilder was also sacked back in March 2021 having been at the club for five years, with 227 games in charge and as many as 106 wins in his first stint for the Blades. However, now it looks as though former Reading, Southampton and Hull City manager, Ruben Selles, is to get a huge chance of a promotion-hungry side. Selles received a lot of praise for his stint with the Royals, coping with transfer embargos, points deductions, missed wages and missed tax payments under the reign of former owner Dai Yongge. Despite all this he put the Royals in a great position in League One before heading to the Championship with Hull City, with one task, to keep them up. Selles may have only just achieved that, on goal difference, but still got the results to keep them out of the drop. However, it wasn't enough to keep his job and he was sacked shortly after the season ended, much to the grievance of fans. The 42-year-old does have a specific style to his play that can take some time to implement into a new squad and that showed to pay-off at Reading, with a young squad consisting of free transfers, loanees and academy graduates. It could be a huge gamble for Sheffield United but he's installed as the huge favourite early on with no other real contenders just yet aside from former Bournemouth and Wolves manager, Gary O'Neil. Former Fulham manager Parker is an interesting name to come to the fore to be the third favourite in the betting though, with another London Premier League stint on the cards. But the football betting market is still wide open with more candidates likely to emerge as talks progress with the current favourites. talk SPORT BET - Bet £10 get £30 in footy free bets - CLAIM HERE* Download the talk SPORT BET app here Download the i OS app Download the Android app 18+ gambleaware. org Commercial content notice: Taking one of the bookmaker offers featured in this article may result in a payment to talk SPORT. 18+.
