Oxford v Ipswich (20: 00 GMT) Ipswich Town blew hot and cold following relegation from the Premier League with just three wins in their opening 10 Championship games this season and were languishing in 13th after a 3-0 home defeat by Charlton just over a month ago. But a six-game unbeaten run (W4 D2) since then, including a 2-0 win at Hull on Tuesday night, has propelled them up to fifth and given them a chance to move into the automatic promotion spots with victory this evening, even if only temporarily before tomorrow’s fixtures. Kieran Mc Kenna’s side have won all five of their games against teams currently in the bottom eight and will fancy their chances against a struggling Oxford. That being said, one quirk of this particular fixture is that Ipswich have never won an away league game against the U’s (P12 D7 L5), making it the most times they’ve faced a team on their travels without ever winning in the EFL. Oxford v Ipswich (20: 00 GMT) There is no getting away from it for Oxford United. They are deeply embroiled in a serious scrap for survival and need to start picking up results sharpish. The U's have won just three league games all season - only bottom two Norwich (2) and Sheffield Wednesday (1) have won fewer - and have gone five in a row without victory (D3 L2). Boss Gary Rowett praised the character of his side to rescue a point in the 95th minute at fellow strugglers Norwich on Tuesday night but Sheffield United's 3-0 win over Portsmouth saw Oxford slip into the bottom three, one point adrift of safety. Rowett is trying to rally his troops, though, and says being in the drop zone only gives them "extra incentive". "I think the players don't overthink it as much, " he told BBC Radio Oxford. "I don't think it's necessarily a huge negative. We've performed quite well in the last two games, I think it's circumstances of other teams winning around us. " Oxford v Ipswich (20: 00 GMT) Gary Rowett makes two changes for Oxford from their 1-1 draw at Norwich on Tuesday. Filip Krastev, who was the goalscorer of the late equaliser at Carrow Road, is rewarded with a start and Stanley Mills also comes in. Tyler Goodrham drops to the bench but Hidde Ter Avest isn't fit enough to make the squad. Injured skipper Cameron Brannagan remains out with injury. Ipswich boss Kieran Mc Kenna opts for a reshuffle after the 2-0 win at Hull, making four changes. Cedrik Kipre, Jack Taylor, Sindre Walle Egeli and Jaden Philogene all come into the starting line-up. Jacob Greaves, Kasey Mc Ateer and Jack Clarke drop to the bench, while Jens Cajuste isn’t in the squad after he was forced off at half-time with an ankle injury at Hull. Oxford v Ipswich (20: 00 GMT) It's a big opportunity for Ipswich Town tonight. The Tractor Boys can move into the automatic promotion spots with a win and could apply some real pressure to the sides around them. At the opposite end of the Championship table, Oxford will climb out of the bottom three with a point on goal difference before Sheffield United visit Leicester tomorrow. But victory would of course vastly improve their chances of not ending the weekend in the relegation zone. Oxford v Ipswich (20: 00 GMT) Results elsewhere this weekend will undoubtedly have an impact on how both Oxford and Ipswich feel about the outcome of this one tonight. If you're wondering what else is going on across the EFL tomorrow, have a read through our five things to look out for here. Hint. .. Ipswich's promotion rivals Middlesbrough and Millwall get a mention. Oxford v Ipswich (20: 00 GMT) Good evening! Another enticing weekend of Championship football starts right here. Oxford United host Ipswich Town with both sides harbouring very different ambitions this season - but equally important of course. The U's are trying to stay in the division, while the Tractor Boys are looking to bounce back to the Premier League at the first time of asking. Should be good, then. Welcome along, let's take a closer look at what's at stake tonight. Przemyslaw Placheta's first spell in England was at Norwich City Przemyslaw Placheta's fine solo goal gave Oxford United an impressive victory over Ipswich Town, who missed the chance to go second in the Championship. Substitute Placheta latched on to Brian de Keersmaecker's pinpoint ball over the top, an excellent first touch took him clear and he slotted wonderfully past Christian Walton. Leif Davis had levelled for Ipswich after the break with an expertly taken volley from the edge of the box straight from a corner. In the first half Azor Matusiwa's loose pass had gifted Oxford an opener as Mark Harris ran on to the ball and stroked in his first goal of the season after Walton had saved his initial effort. Oxford's first win in six matches takes them out of the relegation zone and up to 19th, while Ipswich stay fifth after their six-game unbeaten run was ended. Gary Rowett's side were not expected to get much out of a game against an in-form team that came down from the Premier League and they only had 27% possession over the 90 minutes. But they more than matched their opponents after Davis' equaliser and could have won by a bigger margin. Ole Romeny fizzed one just past the post, Tyler Goodrham was denied by Walton and De Keersmaecker fired wide from the edge of the area. Meanwhile Kieran Mc Kenna's Ipswich must refocus on their push for automatic promotion and an immediate return to the top flight. After a slow start to the campaign this was their first defeat since 21 October and the next couple of weeks could go a long way to defining the Tractor Boys' season. Following next Tuesday's rearranged trip to Blackburn, they host leaders Coventry and second-placed Stoke in the space of five days. Oxford also face a crucial pre-Christmas period. They visit the teams either side of them in the table - 20th-placed Swansea and Blackburn, in 18th, in their next two matches before hosting Preston. Kieran Mc Kenna's side had 18 shots and 73% possession Ipswich will almost certainly see this as a missed opportunity to pick up three points in a game where they went behind against the run of play and dominated the ball for long spells. Oxford had barely threatened until Dutch midfielder Matusiwa did not look when attempting to play back to goalkeeper Walton and Harris nipped in to score for the first time in 16 matches this season. Davis' cushioned volley into the bottom corner came from a set-piece routine that appeared to be straight from the training ground and the visitors pushed for a second goal straight after. Jaden Philogene's low, bending effort was tipped around the post by Jamie Cumming after it took an awkward bounce in front of him. Marcelino Nunez smashed an effort from distance straight at the goalkeeper and Cumming then took the ball in the face from George Hirst's close-range strike. But Placheta's goal at the other end seemed to take the wind out of Ipswich's sails and they must now regroup for what might be a fiery midweek match at Ewood Park. The initial game in September was abandoned after 79 minutes because of a waterlogged pitch, with Blackburn leading 1-0, and the EFL later said the fixture would have to be replayed in full. Oxford United boss Gary Rowett told BBC Radio Oxford: "You saw us drop into the bottom three, the players were completely aware of that, they realised it was a big game for us. "It was always going to be difficult, they're a very talented side, they keep the ball really well and make it difficult for you to jump out. "But I thought at moments we showed brilliant energy, brilliant defensive shape, to go 1-0 up and into the break without conceding too many big chances. "When they scored we had a choice - do we sit in and allow them to dictate the game or do we make changes and go for it? "I thought the changes worked and at 1-1 we stepped up and were brilliant for 15 or 20 minutes after that. " Ipswich Town boss Kieran Mc Kenna told BBC Radio Suffolk: "We weren't clinical enough when we had the game in the two big spells, probably at the start of the game we got into so many good positions. A couple of good chances to go and take the lead. "And then when we get to 1-1, we had a couple of really good chances again to get to 2-1. "We weren't clinical enough in terms of the chances we had and then we've given away two really poor goals. "The first goal is an individual thing, so we will support the player [Azor Matusiwa] with that because that can happen over the course of a long season and the player has been doing brilliant for us. "The second goal was poor organisation from us from what was their only threat at that point - it was going to be a counter-attack or a set play. "It feels like we've given the game away a little bit. " After the opportunity to rate players has closed, the score displayed represents the average from all the submissions by BBC Sport users.
