NFL Kris Boyd was shot around 2 a. m. on Sunday, Sept. 16, on West 38th Street in Midtown Manhattan. John Jones / Imagn Images A person of interest connected to last month’s shooting of New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd is in custody, the New York Police Department confirmed to The Athletic on Monday. The NYPD declined to provide any other information about the person or where they were found. Boyd, 29, was shot around 2 a. m. on Sunday, Nov. 16, on West 38th Street in Midtown Manhattan outside a restaurant. He sustained a wound to the abdomen and was taken to Bellevue Hospital. Advertisement Days after being discharged from the hospital, Boyd returned due to what he said were “health issues. ” “Head HIGH, God is not through with me yet! ” Boyd wrote on his Instagram story at the time. Boyd returned to team facilities this week for the first time since the incident, surprising teammates on Wednesday at a special teams meeting. “For him to come by, the players to see him, some of the coaches to see him, it was good to see him in good spirits, because again, I’ve said that from the beginning, the only thing that mattered to me at that time was, ‘Is he all right? '” Jets coach Aaron Glenn said. The Jets did not have a game scheduled on the day of the shooting, having already lost to the New England Patriots on “Thursday Night Football” three days prior. Authorities previously released surveillance images of a man wanted in connection with the incident. Police said the suspect fled on foot after Boyd was shot. Boyd had been on the injured reserve since training camp. He signed a one-year deal with the Jets in March after previous stints with the Minnesota Vikings, Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texans.
