The Gabon international, now 36, will be lining up alongside Greenwood at Marseille next season after making his return to the French club this week. He only left OM for Saudi Arabia last summer, netting 21 goals and providing three assists during his year at Al-Qadsiah. And in his first press conference since re-joining Roberto De Zerbi's side on a two-year deal, Aubameyang revealed he spoke to his team-mates in Saudi about former Manchester United man Greenwood. 'He's the star boy! He's very strong, very good, ' the striker gushed. 'I really liked his season and now he's working even harder than last season. I'm happy he's with us. ' After shooting onto the Premier League scene as a youngster at Old Trafford, Greenwood's career came crashing down when he was charged with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour before prosecutors dropped the case in February 2023. He restarted at Getafe the following summer, scoring 10 goals and supplying six assists in 36 appearances during his only season at the club. The Englishman then moved onto Marseille a year ago, and has taken the French league by storm, firing home 22 goals in his debut season as his side secured a second-placed finish in Ligue 1. And Marseille bosses will now no-doubt be hoping the signing of Aubameyang could help them go one further next season and win the league title. The striker said he hopes 'great things' will happen at the Velodrome during his second stint with the club. 'I had some very good offers from Saudi Arabia, the Middle East and Europe, but this was a choice made with my heart because I've had some very powerful experiences here, ' he told the media. 'I've worked hard. I need to reconnect with the fans and the stadium. Great things are going to happen. ' Aubameyang returns to Marseille after scoring 30 goals and contributing 11 assists during his first spell with the club in 2023/24. It marks his fifth move since he was forced out of Arsenal by Mikel Arteta in 2022, after spells at Barcelona, Chelsea and in the Saudi Pro League. Aubameyang fired home 68 goals in 128 Premier League appearances for the Gunners.
