Which of these two teams will take a big step towards Champions League qualification today? #bbcfootball, via Whats App on 03301231826 or text 81111 (standard network charges apply) Really harsh on Chelsea to have to play 12: 00 on Sunday away after Thursday night. No thought for the fans or players whatsoever! Would be happy if Chelsea take a point today. Paul - Chelsea fan Newcastle v Chelsea (12: 00 BST) Not long until kick-off now and there is quite an atmosphere at St James' Park. Win this and the locals will almost be able to hear that Champions League music. Here is a quick reminder of the two line-ups. .. Newcastle v Chelsea (12: 00 BST) It's great to see two teams going head-to-head in this race for the top five and Chelsea probably come into it in better form after getting a great result against Liverpool on Sunday. Yes, they were playing straight after Liverpool had won the title and the Reds had probably been celebrating all week, but they still had to put them away and they did that convincingly. It means Enzo Maresca's side have won their past three league games so they will be full of confidence ahead of this one, but it's going to be tough for them to extend that run. We know Maresca is a stickler for playing out from the back, but doing that against Newcastle is asking for trouble. The Magpies will put them under serious pressure, because that's what they do to teams at St James' Park. Newcastle have got a very physical midfield which might be where the battle is won and lost, and of course Alexander Isak is such a threat too. Chelsea have got match-winners too, if Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson and Noni Madueke are firing, and my first thought was that there will be lots of goals in this game. With what's at stake, though, it might be a little cagier than that. I think the BBC readers will go for a draw but I am going to stick my neck out and say Newcastle will edge it. Sutton's prediction: 2-1 #bbcfootball, via Whats App on 03301231826 or text 81111 (standard network charges apply) Hopefully Chelsea are as confused as the rest of the internet about what Newcastle's formation will be. I think they are matching Chelsea's 4-2-3-1 with Gordon playing the Palmer role. Ben Newcastle v Chelsea (12: 00 BST) Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has been speaking to TNT Sports and says he is "hopeful" that both Kieran Trippier and Joe Willock - both of whom are missing today - will be fit to return before the end of the season. However, he says there are "no guarantees" of that. Tottenham v Crystal Palace (14: 15 BST) Sami Mokbel BBC Sport Senior football correspondent Tottenham can salvage what has been a troublesome season with their first trophy since 2008 when they face Manchester United in the Europa League final on 21 May - yet in many ways reaching the showpiece game was immaterial for the club. Change will come at Tottenham regardless of their success in Europe, given Spurs are currently 16th in the Premier League, with some of those internal adjustments already taking shape. The most important decision will be the confirmation of head coach Ange Postecoglou's future. The Australian's job remains unsafe despite the achievement of leading his side to a continental final, where they will face fellow domestic strugglers United in Bilbao in their second European final in six years. There will be new faces in the boardroom too. Vinai Venkatesham, the former Arsenal chief executive, is joining the club before next season in the same position he vacated at Emirates Stadium. Similarly, a potential return of former managing director of football Fabio Paratici is an ongoing process. #bbcfootball, via Whats App on 03301231826 or text 81111 (standard network charges apply) Interesting team news from St James. No Trips, Willock or Joelinton but all three ‘wingers’ (Barnes, Murphy and Gordon) start? Are we going from 4-3-3 to a 4-2-3-1? Or is it to be five at the back with Murphy and Livramento as wingbacks? Blimey Eddie! I’m anxious enough already. Don’t do this to me! Richard, North Shields I have a feeling Howe might’ve gone three at the back but I really hope Livra is right back and Gordon is in the number ten position. Harry Nottingham Forest v Leicester (14: 15 BST) I am at this game for BBC Radio 5 Live and it is a must-win for Nottingham Forest in the top-five race. The pressure is off Leicester because they are already down and they are probably still smiling after getting a rare win over Southampton last time out, when Jamie Vardy scored his 199th goal for the Foxes. I bet Vardy would dearly love to get goal number 200 against Forest's rivals before he leaves the club in the summer, and this game does have a whiff of being one where he has a say in keeping Forest out of the Champions League places Still, if both teams play anything like they have done all season then this is a Forest win, easily. Chris Wood scored twice in a 3-1 win at the King Power in October and although his goals have dried up a bit, I can see him getting back on the scoresheet here. The result is really all that matters for Forest, because they need to get to the last game of the season in touch with Chelsea before they meet in what might turn out to be a Champions League play-off. Sutton's prediction: 2-0 Newcastle v Chelsea (12: 00 BST) Joe Cole Former Chelsea and England midfielder on TNT Sports Cole Palmer has worked hard and stuck to his guns when the goals weren't coming and last weekend against Liverpool, he was outstanding. When he's on his game, he's got a swagger about him. He's such a top, top player. Man Utd v West Ham (14: 15 BST) Manchester United are unbeaten in their past 16 Premier League home games against West Ham and have won each of the last four without conceding. That said, the Hammers have won three of their past four league matches versus today's opponents, as many victories as in their previous 28 (D6, L19). Graham Potter's team are looking to complete a first league double in this fixture since 2006-07 and end a run of eight league games without a win in the process. #bbcfootball, via Whats App on 03301231826 or text 81111 (standard network charges apply) Newcastle v Chelsea draw, Forest win and Arsenal defeat would keep the interest in the run-in. Donald, Belfast Newcastle v Chelsea (12: 00 BST) Alexander Isak is enjoying another fantastic season for Newcastle. He has scored 23 goals in the Premier League this season and he enjoys playing against Chelsea, too. .. The Sweden striker is aiming to score for a fourth consecutive league game against the Blues. Man Utd v West Ham (14: 15 BST) Simon Stone BBC Sport chief football news reporter at Old Trafford Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim accepts his side deserves criticism for the way they season has ended up. United take on West Ham today. The Hammers are one of the two teams behind them who have not been relegated. If the visitors win today, United could end the day in 17th spot. Amorim makes no apology for his decision to prioritise the Europa League now United have booked a final clash with Tottenham in Bilbao on 21 May. But he knows the impact it makes on Premier League form will draw complaints from the likes of former United skipper Roy Keane. "I don't have anything to say about the criticism, because we deserve it, " says Amorim. "If we cannot accept everything in this kind of season, I think we are in the wrong business. "I fully acknowledge that - and I agree with all the critics. "But in this moment I think it's really clear. We have to be smart and we have to take a risk. "I'm going to try to save all the players, because it's really important for us to win the final. " Tottenham v Crystal Palace (14: 15 BST) Crystal Palace will be without Adam Wharton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium today because of ankle ligament damage. Manager Oliver Glasner believes the Englishman has a 90% chance of being fit for next weekend's FA Cup final. But for now the Eagles must do without the talented midfielder as they aim to end a run of nine consecutive Premier League losses at Tottenham. Spirs could equal their top-flight record of 10 successive home wins against a single opponent, which they set against Blackburn Rovers between 1933 and 1966. Palace did win the reverse fixture 1-0 in October, though, and are attempting to complete a first ever league double over the Spurs. Newcastle v Chelsea (12: 00 BST) It has already been a season to remember for Newcastle after winning the Carabao Cup to end a 70-year trophy drought. Clinching Champions League qualification would only add to that and given their form in the second half of the season, you would have to say they deserve it. Over the last 20 league games, only champions Liverpool (46) have accumulated more points than Newcastle's 43. You have to got back to 2002-03 for the last time Newcastle won points more than that in a 20-game span. Sir Bobby Robson's side took 44 from 20 between September and January that season. Newcastle v Chelsea (12: 00 BST) Newcastle boss Eddie Howe talking to TNT: "It is so tight. You detach yourself from elsewhere and just focus on what you can do. "Chelsea are on form but so are well. We need the crowd today. We know it is a massive game. "We have lost Kieron Trippier and Joe Willock to injury, which is a tough one. " Liverpool v Arsenal (16: 30 BST) Mikel Arteta has been making headlines this week with his comments before and after Arsenal's Champions League semi-final loss in Paris. As well as claiming his side have been the best team in this year's Champions League, he also talked about the points tallies Arsenal got in the last two seasons being more than title-winners Liverpool have got this season - conveniently ignoring the fact the Reds have still got three games to play and could end up with more than the Gunners managed in either of those seasons. .. But as well as those comments, the Arsenal boss also admitted his side have dropped off in the Premier League this season. "In the Premier League we've gone a step backwards, " Arteta said. "With the points that we have created it is clear that we have not done as good as last season, and that's obvious. "But with the amount of points that we have generated in the last few seasons, we could have won two Premier League titles. So you know how close we are. We are providing the numbers that win you titles. " Nottingham Forest v Leicester (14: 15 BST) Nottingham Forest have been this season's surprise package and remain right in the mix for a Champions League place. Win today and, at the absolute worst, they will be level on points with the sides in the top-five. They play already-relegated rivals Leicester this afternoon and having won the reverse fixture 3-1 at the King Power earlier in the season, they are bidding for their first league double over the Foxes since 1994-95. It's not only current form against Leicester but history as well. They've only won once at Forest in the league in their last 18 attempts - that back in May 2013. Man Utd v West Ham (14: 15 BST) Simon Stone BBC Sport chief football news reporter at Old Trafford There will be something slightly different about Manchester United for today's game against West Ham. Instead of the Snapdragon logo on their shirts, they will be wearing 'Red'. It is a charity initiative which allows Snapdragon to change the front of shirt sponsorship for one game a season to allow them to promote their chosen organisation. 'Red' campaigns to strengthen health systems in the most vulnerable parts of the world. So, when you see the United players later and wonder what the 'Red' logo is for, that is the reason. Chelsea have won 31 Premier League games against Newcastle, only beating Tottenham (37) and West Ham (32) more often in the competition. Newcastle have already beaten Chelsea 2-0 at St James’ Park this season in the EFL Cup. They last beat the Blues twice in the same campaign in 1986-87 (both in the league), while they last beat them in two different competitions in 1931-32 (league and FA Cup). Across the last 20 league games for each current Premier League side, only Liverpool (46) have accumulated more points than Newcastle (43 – W14 D1 L5). Indeed, it’s the most points they’ve collected over a run of 20 games in the competition since between 21st September 2002 and 29th January 2003 (44). After winning three of their previous eight Premier League games (D2 L3), Chelsea have won each of their last three matches in the competition, only enjoying a longer winning run in the competition this season between November and December (5 games). Chelsea recorded the highest expected goals total (3. 13) and non-penalty expected goals total (2. 35) any side has managed against Liverpool in the Premier League this season last time out, with only the Reds (2. 0) boasting a higher non-penalty x G total per game in the competition this term than the Blues (1. 8). Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has won seven of his 20 meetings with Chelsea in all competitions, though each of these seven victories has come against a different manager (Mourinho, Conte, Sarri, Lampard, Potter, Pochettino, Maresca). Newcastle’s Alexander Isak has recorded the most goals (19) and non-penalty goals (15) in the Premier League since the start of December, while is second only to Mohamed Salah (30) for goal involvements (23). The Swede could score in a fourth successive league game against Chelsea, something he’s only done before in the competition against Brentford and Nottingham Forest. Newcastle’s Bruno Guimarães is the first Premier League player this season to win 100 fouls, doing so in each of the last two campaigns (also 108 in 2023-24), becoming the first player to do so consecutively in the competition since Jack Grealish in 2019-20 (167) and 2020-21 (110). No Chelsea player has been directly involved in more Premier League goals in 2025 than Enzo Fernández (6 – 3 goals, 3 assists), scoring (1) or assisting (2) in each of his last three games in the competition. Since the turn of the year, he’s second in the Premier League for chances created from open play (34) behind Mohamed Salah (45), and joint-third for possession won in the final third (15).
