Gannon-Doak had started the game for Steve Clarke's side at Hampden Park, with the players knowing that a win would secure their place at the 2026 World Cup in North America. He picked up an assist just three minutes into the game, chipping in for former Manchester United star Scott Mc Tominay, who pulled off an audacious bicycle kick to put his side ahead. But he lasted just 20 minutes, hitting the deck holding his hamstring and clearly in pain. After a brief break in play for treatment, the former Liverpool man couldn't hold his tears back as he was placed onto a stretcher and carried off the field to a round of applause. He will now return to Bournemouth, who will asses the severity of the injury ahead of a busy Christmas period. Gannon-Doak made a total of 10 first team appearances for Liverpool during his time with the club. He signed a five-year deal at Bournemouth after spending last season on loan at Middlesbrough. Doak made 24 appearances in the Championship, scoring three goals and providing seven assists. Liverpool inserted a buy back clause in the deal, with Gannon-Doak joining the Premier League champions in 2022 from Celtic. He was making his 12th appearance for Scotland at the time of the injury. Kenny Mc Lean was his replacement. Scotland led 1-0, but a Rasmus Hojlund penalty drew Denmark level to move them back to the top of the group. Former Leeds defender Rasmus Kristensen was then sent off for the away side just after the hour mark, and Lawrence Shankland put his side back ahead, only for Patrick Dorgu to equalise again. There were then ecstatic scenes in the third minute of stoppage time, however, with Kieran Tierney bagging a dramatic third for his side, and Mc Lean put the icing on the cake five minutes later with an effort from the half-way line.
