Every season, the Premier League champions are given 40 winners medals. Of those 40 medals, Premier League rules stipulate one is allocated to every player who has made five or more appearances in the competition during the season. That usually leaves around 15-20 medals left over. The winning club can choose to distribute those as they see fit. Managers and other senior coaching staff, including their assistants, are customarily awarded some of the remaining medals. Players who have featured on fewer than five occasions may not be guaranteed a medal but could be given one by the club. Medals are placed around players' necks on the day the trophy is awarded to the winning team. A cushioned display case is also provided with each one Premier League winners medals are made of silver with a thin plate of gold on the exterior. Most sports medals - including gold, silver and bronze variants handed out at the Olympics - are primarily made of silver because it is cheaper and more durable. The current Premier League design features the word 'champions' at the top and the season at the bottom, and also includes the lion portrait which has served as the Premier League logo since 2016. The lion was chosen as the division's symbol when it was founded in 1992 in order to reflect the traditional Three Lions of English football which feature in the Football Association's logo. Twenty-one players have already made at least five Premier League appearances for 2024-25 champions Liverpool this season, guaranteeing them a medal. They are: Goalkeepers - Alisson Becker, Caoimhin Kelleher Defenders - Trent Alexander-Arnold, Conor Bradley, Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez, Jarell Quansah, Andrew Robertson, Kostas Tsimikas Midfielders - Ryan Gravenberch, Wataru Endo, Alexis Mac Allister, Harvey Elliott, Curtis Jones, Dominik Szoboszlai Forwards - Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo Italian forward Federico Chiesa, who signed for about £10m from Juventus last summer, has made only four appearances in the Premier League this season, totalling 33 minutes. Meanwhile, third-choice goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros and young striker Jayden Danns, now on loan at Sunderland, have played a single game each. Awarding a medal to those three players would mean Liverpool still have 16 to allocate as they wish. Manager Arne Slot and his two assistants, Sipke Hulshoff and former Everton defender Johnny Heitinga, will almost certainly be awarded medals. The likes of physical performance coach Ruben Peeters, individual performance coach Aaron Briggs, and goalkeeping coach Fabian Otte could be next in line. There are also seven other young players who have not featured in the Premier League for Liverpool this season but have played in other competitions. They are Trent Kone-Doherty, Isaac Mabaya, James Mc Connell, Tyler Morton, Rio Ngumoha, Amara Nallo and Trey Nyoni.
