Nasser Djiga signed for Wolves in January for £10m Defender Nasser Djiga says Rangers is the "best team" for him after joining on a season-long loan from Wolves. The 22-year-old signed for the Molineux club in the winter window from Red Star Belgrade for £10m, and started one Premier League match, and was a substitute in four others. He started his career in his native Burkina Faso before joining Basel in Switzerland, and also played for Nimes in France, prior to his switch to Belgrade. "I am very happy to join Rangers, it is one of the biggest clubs in Scotland and in Europe, " Djiga said. "I will try to give everything, to play every game and I think it is the best team for me. I just want to play and enjoy football with the team. The centre-back started all eight of the Serbian club's league phase matches last season, and their six group games during the 2023-24 campaign when he was on loan, and played a part in their league and cup triumphs. Before that he played 21 times in the French second tier while on loan at Nimes from Basel. Djiga played for Vitesse in Burkina Faso initially, and has eight caps and played at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. When Wolves signed him on deadline day in February, they described Djiga as having "great potential". The club say he is heading to Glasgow to "gain valuable experience in the British game" having started his first Premier League game away to Crystal Palace at the end of the season. Djiga is Rangers' sixth signing of the summer transfer window as they continue to rebuild their squad following Martin's appointment and the club's takeover. "We believe he has all the attributes required to thrive here at Rangers in the upcoming campaign and I am looking forward to working with him, " Martin added of Djiga.
