Scottish League 2 Big-spending Lowland League champions East Kilbride start the season - their first ever in the senior leagues - as favourites for another promotion as they host Spartans. Relegated Dumbarton, who have also been splashing the cash of their new owner, host Clyde. Meanwhile, having suffered the drop via the play-offs, Annan Athletic host Elgin City. Scottish League 1 Alloa Athletic were the surprise guys of the League Cup group stage, topping their group ahead of top-flight Dundee and Airdrieonians. Andy Graham's side start their league campaign away to Stenhousemuir, who finished a place above them in fourth last season. Hamilton Academical, relegated after a points deduction and now under a signing ban, host Montrose, while League 2 champions Peterhead host East Fife, who followed them via the play-offs. Inverness Caledonian Thistle will hope to put their financial woes behind them away to Kelty Hearts, while fellow promotion favourites Cove Rangers host Queen of the South. Former Aberdeen winger Niall Mc Ginn signed for Peterhead this summer from Glentoran Scottish Championship As mentioned we've already had one game in the second tier, that 1-1 draw between promoted Arbroath and Ayr United last night. Today, Airdrieonians, who avoided relegation via the play-offs, host a Ross County side reeling not only from their drop from the Premiership but also from failing to qualify from their League Cup group. Relegated St Johnstone host Partick Thistle in a game between two League Cup group winners. Greenock Morton entertain Dunfermline Athletic having beaten the visitors to one of the best runners-up spots in the last 16, while Queen's Park visit Raith Rovers, with both sides having indifferent group stage campaigns. Ross County start life back in the Championship Kilmarnock v Livingston (15: 00) Andy Burke BBC Sport Scotland at Rugby Park A lovely sunny day at Rugby Park for the Premiership curtain-raiser. We are going to learn a lot about these teams, both of which have had a sizeable turnover in players over the course of the summer. What style these sides will employ this season has been a particular point in the build-up. How will Stuart Kettllewell's Kilmarnock differ from what we saw under Derek Mc Innes? Will Livingston carry the attacking style they demonstrated in the Championship into the top flight? We'll get our first clues here today. Kilmarnock v Livingston (15: 00) An own goal from midfielder Mo Sylla was all that separated the sides last month - a 1-0 win that ensured Kilmarnock qualified from their League Cup group as winners. Livingston also progressed as one of the best runners-up and will be confident of a different outcome this time. A deflection off Mo Sylla (left) gave Kilmarnock victory Kilmarnock v Livingston (15: 00) Livingston manager David Martindale tells BBC Scotland: "It's brilliant to be back, but there's the pressure of the exposure that the Premiership brings. They're good pressures. "We want to be here. That's seven years in the Premiership in the last decade and everyone in the club should get a massive pat on the back for that. "The recruitment was based on that [players having Premiership experience]. We've got a good senior group, a good core of young players also. Hopefully it stands us in good stead. " Kilmarnock v Livingston (15: 00) Kilmarnock manager Stuart Kettlewell tells BBC Scotland: "If only we could play every fixture in this weather! We're looking forward to it, it's always a special occasion. "It has that added edge. We're the only top flight three o'clock kick-off, so we need to maximise the opportunity because there's a lot of eyes and attention on it. "You want to be the first team to score in the Premiership calendar. It would be nice to get off to a good start. "But we saw two weeks ago [in the League Cup] that there wasn't very much between the teams. They offered plenty in attack. " Greenock Morton v Dunfermline Athletic (15: 00) There will be no Dougie Imrie in the Morton dugout as the Greenock side start the Championship season at home to Dunfermline. Morton say, vaguely, it is "due to a private matter". It means recently appointed technical head coach Billy Davies, the former Motherwell, Preston North End, Derby County and Nottingham Forest boss, will take the team instead. Kilmarnock v Livingston (15: 00) Kyle Magennis appears to be one of the two injured players who manager Stuart Kettlewell alluded to earlier in the week. Robbie Deas also misses out through suspension. There are three changes from the side that beat East Fife 4-0, with goalkeeper Max Stryjek coming back in against his former club. Brad Lyons is also back to captain the side, with Tom Lowery, the summer arrival from Portsmouth, joining him in midfield. Former Chelsea goalkeeper Eddie Beach drops to the bench, while exciting 18-year-old defender Ben Brannan makes his Premiership debut and former Motherwell left-back Dominic Thompson is on the bench after signing this morning. Kilmarnock v Livingston (15: 00) Livingston name an unchanged side from the 6-0 win over Kelty Hearts in the League Cup. On-loan Celtic left-back Adam Montgomery, former Dundee midfielder Mo Sylla and ex-St Johnstone winger Graham Carey make their league debuts for Livingston, while Scott Pittman is the only player who has made a Premiership appearance for the West Lothian club previously. There's been plenty of changes to the playing squad since they were last there obviously. On the bench, new signing Jeremy Bokila, the former Willem II striker, could make his debut. Jeremy Bokila is on the Livingston bench FT: Arbroath 1-1 Ayr United As mentioned earlier, there's been one game already in the Scottish Professional Football League. As ever at this time of year, there are a flurry of signings on match days and today is no different. Kilmarnock have added left-back Dominic Thompson after his exit from Premiership rivals Motherwell. Meanwhile, Greenock Morton have signed Michael O’Halloran after the 34-year-old forward's release by Championship rivals Dunfermline Athletic. Former Heart of Midlothian forward Dale Carrick has moved up a division from Stirling Albion to League 1 outfit Stenhousemuir, while the League 2 club have added Aidan Cannon, the 18-year-old midfielder who had been on trial after his released by Celtic. Dominic Thompson (centre) is on Kilmarnock's bench Scottish Premiership As my colleague, Jack Herrall, writes: "A Club World Cup win, squad rebuilds going into the hundreds of millions, fancy US tours and new stadiums costing £800m. Pah. "Yes, the Premier League has a few plus points. But it's not the Scottish Premiership. "The juggernaut that is Scotland's top flight cranks up again on Saturday. It may not be all glamour, but you can bet your last Donald Trump-autographed Chelsea trophy photo that it will deliver jaw-dropping drama and more talking points than you could shake a kebab pie at. " You can read the rest of Jack's guide to the season's potential story lines and plot twists here. Kilmarnock v Livingston (15: 00 BST) I said "almost" a full card because there is actually only one fixture kicking off the Premiership season with a traditional 15: 00 kick-off. Kilmarnock host promoted Livingston in a repeat of their Premier Sports Cup group-stage meeting a couple of weeks ago, with Rangers visiting Motherwell in a 17: 30 kick-off. Due to European involvements and TV coverage, three more games follow tomorrow, with Heart of Midlothian hosting Aberdeen on Monday evening.
