The impressive Anis Mehmeti scored for the second consecutive game for Bristol City Bristol City piled more misery onto crisis club Sheffield Wednesday as they cruised to victory at Hillsborough in the Championship. In a first half that was at times embarrassing for the hosts, Wednesday's fans made their feelings known as they loudly protested against the ongoing ownership of Dephon Chansiri. An own goal in the opening five minutes from debutant Harry Amass and strikes from Emil Riis and Anis Mehmeti saw in-form City all but secure the points before the break. A Wednesday squad, that has been decimated by summer departures and transfer restrictions due to their financial issues, improved somewhat after the break as they dampened City's attacking threat. Mehmeti hit the post in the 64th minute as the Owls - who failed to have a shot on target - did well to keep the score respectable. But Wednesday's fourth loss in five matches this season keeps them second from bottom on one point - only city rivals Sheffield United are below them having lost all five of their games following their 5-0 thrashing at Ipswich Town on Friday night. Meanwhile, unbeaten City move up to third in the table, two points off leaders Middlesbrough. Eighteen-year-old Amass was one of three changes Wednesday made as they aimed to improve on their total of just one point from their first five games. But the youngster - making his debut after a deadline day loan move from Manchester United - had a nightmare start when Rob Dickie's shot from a Mehmeti cutback deflected off him at close range and into the net. Riis should have made it 2-0 just four minutes later when a Yann Valery mistake saw him through on goal, but Ethan Horvath did well to stop the onrushing forward as chants against Chansiri's rang out. Mehmeti was on hand to create City's second when a poor clearance was cut out by Jason Knight and the Albania winger's perfectly weighted ball into Riis saw the striker calmly stroke the ball through Horvath's legs. The impressive Mehmeti got a goal for himself as he drifted off his marker at the back post, beautifully controlled Scott Twine's cross and arrowed in a shot in from the corner of the six-yard box to make it 3-0. He should have had two more in the next seven minutes. First Horvath got down well to palm a fierce effort away and then, having rounded the keeper, Mehmeti found the side netting from a difficult angle. Ike Ugbo went closest for the Owls when he put the ball wide at the far post from Max Lowe's cross as the hosts struggled to match City's passing and incisiveness. After the break Mehmeti came inches away from a second when his left-footed first-time effort thumped the post after good work by Ross Mc Crorie, before Wednesday's woes were increased when Amass limped off a couple of minutes later. Jamal Lowe had a rare effort for the hosts with 16 minutes left as he broke down the right before blazing high over the Robins' bar while Mehmeti curled an effort just wide moments later. "We scored very quickly and it gave us a big belief, but I want to speak about the match plan and how we executed the match plan today. I think the boys did a great job against a tough opponent. "In the end we could have scored more goals. We have many chances on our side and I don't think they had a shot on target, so we stay stable, a clean sheet, many chances, goals, that's what we want. "It was a long time ago that Bristol City won in this stadium. Now I think was the right time to do it. " This video can not be played Pedersen: 'A tough game again' Owls boss Henrik Pedersen told BBC Radio Sheffield: "It was a tough game, again – we gave ourselves a very difficult beginning, with a set -piece goal again, where we win the ball, lose the ball, concede the goal. "But I think we came back in the game. The boys are fighting, but after the second goal we lose a little bit of confidence. We have to be better, we need to have more resilience and confidence to play when we are 1-0 down. "In the second half, the boys worked really well to stay in the game but we are not here to lose 3-0, we're here to win football games, so of course we are disappointed. "We have shown we can compete in phases of games but we have not shown we can compete for 95 minutes against an opponent – but I can still see how hard the boys are working.
