Cristiano Ronaldo has signed a new two-year deal with Al Nassr worth close to £500million. The five-time Ballon d'Or winner had hinted at a move away before the Club World Cup, but has extended his stay in Saudi Arabia after being offered a staggering new contract. It is understood to be the richest contract in sporting history, and will see Ronaldo play on past his 42nd birthday. The Portugal icon will be paid £178million a year, which equates to £487, 671 per day. As per The Sun, he has also been handed a £24. 5m signing bonus, which will increase to £38m in the second year. And he has given an ownership stake in the club, worth around £33million. There are also bonuses for winning the Golden Boot and the Saudi Pro League title, which could take his total package over two years to £492m. Ronaldo posted on social media: "A new chapter begins. Same passion, same dream. Let's make history together. " A club post announcing the deal said: "Al Nassr Club Company officially signed a contract extension with Cristiano Ronaldo. Al Nassr captain contract will be valid until 2027. " Ronaldo joined Al Nassr in December 2022 on a free transfer after leaving Manchester United following a controversial interview with Piers Morgan in which he heavily criticised the Premier League club. He has since scored 99 goals in 111 appearances for Al Nassr and netted 35 times last season to win the Saudi Pro League's golden boot award. Ronaldo had fuelled rumours of a possible departure from Saudi Arabia with a cryptic social media post after Al Nassr's final game of the season. Posting on social media after another trophyless campaign, Ronaldo wrote: "This chapter is over. The story? Still being written. Grateful to all. ” Inter Miami were among clubs linked with a stunning swoop to unite the two GOATS of football Lionel Messi and Ronaldo in one team. Brazilian giants Fluminense even offered the 40-year-old a contract, while Chelsea legend John Obi Mikel joined talk SPORT to urge Todd Boehly to make a deal happen. But Ronaldo has ultimately decided to stay in Saudi as he looks to surpass 1000 career goals. He has netted 938 goals for club and country so far in his career, needing 62 to reach the four-figure mark. News of Ronaldo's deal came a day after Al Nassr parted company with manager Stefano Pioli - the fourth managerial exit during his time at the club. Former AC Milan and Inter boss Pioli was only appointed in September. He led Al Nassr to a third-placed finish in the SPL last season, but they were 13 points behind champions Al Ittihad. "Thanks for everything, " Ronaldo posted on social media following the news of Pioli's exit.
