As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Arthur Masuaku is set to sign a two-year deal with the Black Cats following a successful medical. The left-back, 31, was a free agent following his departure from Besiktas at the end of last season. Masuaku was at West Ham between 2016 and 2023, during which time he made 128 appearances. Further signings are expected for Sunderland, who are looking to make a big impact upon their return to the Premier League. Former Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka has been one of the key arrivals from the Stadium of Light as he joined from Bayer Leverkusen. Forward Marc Guiu has also joined on loan from Chelsea. Regis Le Bris' team get their Premier League season underway with a home game against West Ham on August 16.
