Zan Vipotnik (left) scored his fourth goal in as many games, while John Egan (right) netted his first for Hull John Egan drilled home in the seventh minute of added time to give Hull City a dramatic 2-2 draw at Swansea City. Swansea had been on course for victory after goals from Zan Vipotnik and Ronald came either side of Oli Mc Burnie's strike against his old club. But Hull pushed for an equaliser in the closing stages and were rewarded when Swansea failed to clear and Egan drilled home in a crowded penalty area. That meant Hull avoided a third successive Championship defeat, while Swansea were left frustrated despite extending their unbeaten run in all competitions to six matches. Swansea stay seventh in the early-season league table, while Hull drop to 20th. Vipotnik's fifth goal in six matches for club and country had come after he exchanged passes with Malick Yalcouye, before a neat touch bought him a yard of space in the penalty area. That was all the Slovenia international needed as he drilled the ball low into the bottom corner of Ivor Pandur's net. Swansea had been marginally the more threatening side in a first half which came to life late on, with Hull equalising before the break when Mc Burnie won the race to meet Ryan Giles' perfect cross to slide the ball home at the near post. Mc Burnie was denied a second early in the second half when his header was expertly saved by Lawrence Vigouroux, with Hull suddenly causing Swansea problems. Yet it was the hosts who retook the lead after a driving run from Yalcouye allowed Zeidane Inoussa to cross from the left. With the Hull defence flatfooted, Ronald raced in behind to touch home his fourth of the season from point-blank range. Hull refused to lie down, however, with Vigouroux's sharp save denying Mohamed Belloumi and Egan seeing one effort blocked before he found the far corner. Oli Mc Burnie opted not to celebrate against his former club, who were interested in re-signing him in the summer before he moved to Hull Despite this week's departure of director of football Richard Montague, Swansea came into this game on a high thanks to what many feel is the club's best transfer window in recent memory. Hull are another club whose summer work has been viewed as successful, particularly given the transfer restrictions imposed on the club by the EFL. Mc Burnie moved to Humberside in the summer despite interest from a host of clubs, including Swansea. He produced a typically hard-working centre-forward's performance and was rewarded with a third goal for his new club – though he declined to celebrate on their ground where he is fondly remembered. On-loan Brighton midfielder Yalcouye and the continually impressive Ethan Galbraith were the most prominent of Swansea's summer recruits, yet it is the goals of Vipotnik and Ronald which have made the difference for Alan Sheehan right now. Both players have four club goals already this season, having managed only 10 between them in 2024-25. Head coach Sheehan will be unhappy that the duo's latest contributions did not lead to another victory, though opposite number Sergej Jakirovic will rightly feel that Hull were worth a point. Ronald's fourth goal of the season had looked like giving Swansea a third win in their past four league games until John Egan scored his first league goal since January 2023 Swansea head coach Alan Sheehan: "It's very disappointing, the manner of the equaliser. Seven [added] minutes was a long time to add on but ultimately we only played in patches today. "I will not hide from that. First half was very comfortable. We were comfortable without doing a whole lot. "But we conceded more chances today than we have in the last four games – that's not like us. "Defensively, the longer the game went on we dropped, dropped, dropped. We tried to see out the game but we didn't do that. We take the point and there is loads to improve on. " Hull head coach Sergej Jakirovic: "In my opinion we didn't deserve to lose. Especially second had a lot of chances, the goalkeeper made unbelievable saves. "It was very bad for us to concede the second goal on the counter-attack when we could have taken a 2-1 lead. "But we put pressure on the Swansea defence and in the end we got the reward. Our substitutions did a very good job. They took a lot of second balls and put pressure on Swansea.
