Birmingham and Ipswich get the Championship season underway on Friday night, while Ross County host St Johnstone in a key Scottish Championship clash. We have a trio of selections which make up our best bets of the day. BET £10 GET £30 IN FREE BETS WITH TALKSPORT BET Ipswich to beat Birmingham @ 7/4 Ipswich are favourites for the Championship title and Friday night’s opponents Birmingham are third in the outright market. The heavy-hitting duo go head-to-head at St Andrew’s and the visitors can collect their first three points of the campaign at the first time of asking. The Suffolk side were relegated from the Premier League last season, but with that comes the financial benefits and crucially talent manager Kieran Mc Kenna. Ipswich have kept hold of the bulk of the squad which they put together in the Premier League last season and, while it wasn’t enough to keep the Tractor Boys in the top-flight, they were at least competitive for much of the season. Birmingham have invested heavily in the summer and the Blues have high-profile financial backing. However, Chris Davies’ squad still looks a little off the quality of Ipswich’s and the Blues look to have been overrated by the prices. Ipswich, Ross County & Go Ahead Eagles treble @ 14/1 Ipswich can see off a Birmingham side who appear to have been hugely overrated this season, while home advantage should be enough for Ross County to get the better of title rivals St Johnstone. Go Ahead Eagles finished 10 points better off than Fortuna Sittard last season and that superiority should be confirmed in the opening contest of the Eredivisie campaign. Ross County to win 3-1 @ 17/1 The market expects Ross County and St Johnstone to be battling it out for the Scottish Championship title and promotion to the Premiership. County have invested heavily in the summer and Don Cowie certainly has a title-winning squad at his disposal. The Staggies gave up a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at Airdrie in their opening second-tier contest, but County were the better side in that tie and better can be expected as the squad comes together. The Saints were emphatic 5-1 winners against Partick Thistle last weekend and that was a seriously impressive performance. However, a Dingwall tie with Ross County represents a major step up from the clash with Thistle and the Staggies look a bet to win a high-scoring contest.
