There is plenty of Scandinavian football to look forward to this weekend with action taking place across Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland. Fixtures have taken place throughout the summer in Sweden, Norway and Finland, but there has been an eight-week break in Denmark which comes to an end with the first round of matches in the 2025-26 campaign. Below we have picked out the best bets from Sunday's fixture list. BET £10 GET £30 IN FREE BETS WITH TALKSPORT BET The Danish Superliga starts this week and there could be an early setback for title hopefuls Brondby, who may struggle to secure maximum points at home to Silkeborg. Brondby were founded in 1964 and had a hugely successful period between 1985 and 2005 when they won 10 domestic top flight titles. However, they have been top dogs just once in the last 20 years and were third last term, 12 points adrift of champions FC Copenhagen. Closing the gap will be the aim for Brondby head coach Frederik Birk Christensen, but he has some gaps to fill in his squad after the departures of his top league scorers - 12-goal attacker Yuito Suzuki and 17-goal centre-forward Mathias Kvistgaarden - to Freiburg and Norwich. Japanese striker Sho Fukuda has joined from J-League side Shonan Bellmare, where he netted 14 goals in 62 league appearances, but it seems that Brondby’s front line is significantly weaker than it was just two months ago. And the talent drain should afford an opportunity for Silkeborg, who are keen to improve on their seventh place finish. Silkeborg lost only five of their 16 away league games last term and seem to have enjoyed a more settled summer than their hosts. Kent Nielsen’s side will be hopeful of breaking into the top six and they can start off by taking at least a share of the spoils. Mjallby are setting the pace in the Allsvenskan and their chances of winning a third league title can be enhanced by a low-scoring home success over fellow highfliers AIK Stockholm. Sixteen games into the 30-game season, Mjallby find themselves sitting pretty with 37 points on the board. They remain unbeaten at Strandvallen and have gathered 10 points from the last four home games while conceding just one goal. AIK are only five points worse off but their recent away performances have been letting them down. The capital club succumbed 2-0 to Halmstad on their last road trip and they may experience a similar outcome against the leaders. Gnistan are mid-table in the Finnish Veikkausliiga and they can boost their chances of a top six finish by defeating fifth-placed SJK at Oma SP Stadion. Just five points separate the teams and SJK are likely to be mentally and physically tired after Thursday’s 2-0 loss away to Faroese side Klaksvik in Conference League qualifying which resulted in a 4-1 aggregate defeat. Gnistan have had an empty midweek and their extra freshness could be key to securing maximum points.
