Scott was the surprise inclusion in Tuchel's squad for this month's World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Serbia. It continues an impressive rise for Scott, who had been playing for non-league side Guernsey FC as recently as 2019 having grown up on the Channel Island. Scott ultimately joined Bristol City the same year, before making a £25m move to Bournemouth in 2023 having impressed with the Championship side. Addressing Scott's call-up to the squad, Tuchel explained England Under-21 boss Carsley, who had a spell as the Three Lions interim manager last year, had praised the midfielder's displays in their European Championship triumph in the summer. The England manager noted how Scott had impressed in the heart of midfield alongside Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson, who he notably labelled a 'regular starter' for his side. Thomas Tuchel explained handing Bournemouth's Alex Scott a first England call-up Scott and Elliot Anderson had impressed as England won the Under-21 Euros in the summer Tuchel notably referred to Anderson as being a 'regular starter' in his England squad 'He had an excellent Euros and won the title, Lee [Carsley] was full of praise and he did an excellent job in midfield with Elliot Anderson, who is now a regular starter for us, ' Tuchel said. 'He was very impressive and then he took another step and has become a very regular starter for Bournemouth. 'They are in the top third of the league, overperforming constantly, and he is a starter for them. 'He puts the intensity in and gets his minutes, so we thought this was the perfect time to reward him, get to know him and see what he can bring to our team. ' Scott had started five of England's six matches during their Under-21 European Championship triumph in the summer. The 22-year-old, who has 11 caps at Under-21 level, has started 10 of Bournemouth's 11 matches this season. The Cherries are currently fifth in the Premier League having made an impressive start to the campaign under Andoni Iraola.
