The injury kept him out the Club World Cup semi–final in New Jersey which saw the Spanish giants thrashed 4–0 by Luis Enrique's side. He had played in all five of Madrid's Club World Cup previous matches after his move from Liverpool at the start of June. Speaking before they were dumped out by PSG, Madrid boss Xabi Alonso said: ‘He felt something, a small discomfort but not good enough to play today. ’ ‘For sure it’s a blow. But we need to deal with that, it’s part of the job and hopefully we won’t miss him. Real Madrid's 18–year–old forward Endrick has been further ruled out for a number of weeks The Brazilian suffered a relapse of a muscle injury which he has been struggling since May Carreras, 22, who was previously known as Fernandez, came through the youth ranks at Real before he moved to Old Trafford as a 17–year–old in 2020. The Spaniard failed to make an appearance for United, but did spend time on loan at Preston, Granada and Benfica. According to Fabrizio Romano, Carreras is nearing a return to the Bernabeu after a €50m (£43m) agreement was reached with Benfica.
