Announcing his death on X on Tuesday evening, Liverpool paid tribute to Stevenson. A club statement read: 'We are deeply saddened by the passing of former player Willie Stevenson.   'The thoughts of everyone at Liverpool FC are with Willie’s loved ones at this sad time. ' Liverpool also released a touching video of Stevenson's best moments at Anfield alongside the caption: 'Rest in peace, Willie Stevenson'. Rest in peace, Willie Stevenson. pic. twitter. com/og Oby Ici Om Former Liverpool player Willie Stevenson (pictured) has died at the age of 85 Stevenson (front row, right) won two league titles and the FA Cup at Liverpool Stevenson scored in the semi-final before Liverpool went on to win their first FA Cup in 1965 Stevenson was signed for £20, 000 by Shankly in October 1962, and went on to win the first division while playing for his fellow Scot in 1964 and 1966. He was also part of the team that won Liverpool's first ever FA Cup in 1965. Stevenson scored a penalty in his side's 2-0 semi-final win over Chelsea, before the Reds beat Leeds in the final at Wembley. Stevenson joined Liverpool from Rangers, where he won the league in his first season and the Scottish Cup in his second.   He left Liverpool in 1967 after five years at the club and moved to Stoke. The Midlands-based club also paid tribute to Stevenson, writing on X: 'The Club is saddened to learn of the passing of former player Willie Stevenson, who featured on more than 100 occasions for the Potters between 1967 and 1973.   'Our thoughts and sincere condolences are with Willie's family and friends. ' Stevenson also played for Tranmere,  Vancouver Whitecaps and Macclesfield. Following his retirement from football, Stevenson stayed in Macclesfield and ran a contract cleaning company in the area.
