Rob Mac (left) and Ryan Reynolds (right) took control of Wrexham in February 2021 Phil Parkinson says the latest investment into Wrexham will help the club build towards a sustainable future. It comes after the Red Dragons announced Apollo Sports Capital (ASC) - majority owners of Spanish giants Atletico Madrid - have become minority investors in the Championship side. "I think it's really positive news for the club, " Parkinson told BBC Sport Wales. "It helps the club moving forward and building a sustainable club for the future. " ASC's stake in Wrexham is believed to be less than 10%, although Hollywood duo Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac stated their involvement will help the club's "vision and ambition". Parkinson added: "It's a great, positive story. Everybody's looking forward to working with the new investors. " Football stadium's £18m grant will help 'transform Wrexham', says minister Wrexham 'capable of beating anybody' - Mc Clean Reynolds and Mac remain as majority owners of the north Wales side - who also received investment from the Allyn Family in October 2024. It is hoped the latest investment will help continue the growth of Wrexham on and off the pitch, with the deal to provide additional financing towards the ongoing development of the club's iconic Stok Cae Ras stadium. Parkinson revealed he has been in close contact with the club's chief executive officer Michael Williamson regarding the latest developments. "Everything stays the same football-wise, but Michael has kept me informed over the last few weeks. I was aware that there was something going on a while ago, " added Parkinson. "Michael rang me on Sunday saying 'just to let you know, it's going to be announced' and he gave me a bit of context which enabled me to inform the staff. " Wrexham have enjoyed a remarkable rise under their majority owners, earning three successive promotions to surge from the fifth-tier National League to the second-tier Championship. With Wrexham's profile continuing to grow worldwide, Parkinson feels it is vital that the club continue to build for the future. "It's about putting those building blocks in place for the short and long-term. This is another step towards that, " he said. "We're a club that's building all the time, on and off the pitch, and this is another step in that direction.
