Paul Mullin scored more than 100 goals for Wrexham under Ryan Reynolds' ownership Wrexham co-owner Ryan Reynolds says he cannot imagine seeing Paul Mullin wearing a different kit after the striker completed a loan move to Wigan Athletic. Mullin has joined the League One side for the 2025-26 season but says he feels "sad" and "disappointed" to leave Wrexham having spent most of last season's promotion-winning campaign to the Championship on the sidelines. Reynolds says it will be strange seeing Mullin playing elsewhere, given the 30-year-old's huge contribution to the Red Dragons' rise from the National League to the second tier in successive seasons. "I can't imagine seeing Mulls on loan and in another kit, " said the Hollywood actor on social media. "We wouldn't be where we are without his heart, skill and work ethic. "We love you. " Mullin's Wrexham journey - timeline of a cult hero Wigan Athletic sign Wrexham striker Mullin on loan Mullin scored 110 goals in 170 games in all competitions for Wrexham after joining from Cambridge United in 2021, but was dropped from the squad altogether for the final few months of the 2024-25 campaign. "It was sad to leave there how it's ended, " Mullin told Wigan's website. "That happens in football - you leave clubs - but just the way it's gone has been quite disappointing. "But one door closes, another one opens. I'm ready for a new chapter. " Many Wrexham fans remain puzzled why Mullin could not even make the bench in the final few months of last season, even after the January arrival of forwards Sam Smith and Jay Rodriguez. But supporters and pundits have been keen to pay tribute to a man who leaves - for now at least - with legendary status at the Stok Cae Ras. Former Wrexham midfielder Waynne Phillips describes Mullin as "one of the greatest to have worn the red of Wrexham". "So many happy memories in the four years, and I've been privileged to have commentated on so many wonderful moments, " said BBC Wales pundit Phillips. "Like all Wrexham fans, I wish Paul Mullin all the very best.
