Chelsea make approach to sign World Cup star and reject £22m bid | Football | Metro News

Chelsea make approach to sign World Cup star and reject £22m bid | Football | Metro News Chelsea have made an approach to sign Benfica winger Andreas Schjelderup and rejected a £22m offer for Trevoh Chalobah. Chelsea are set to make Marco Palestra their first summing signing after agreeing a £51m deal for the Atalanta full-back. Inter Milan were leading the race to sign Palestra, a 21-year-old Italian international, but Alonso helped convince him to move to west London. Chelsea targeted Palestra as they are open to offers for current right-back Malo Gusto, who has emerged as a target for new Manchester City boss Enzo Maresca. There has also been movement in the left-back position with Marc Cucurella completing a £52m move to Real Madrid. At centre-back Chelsea have expressed interest in Crystal Palace’s Maxence Lacroix and Como’s Jacobo Ramon. While Chelsea are open to offers for Chalobah, they have rejected a second offer from Como for the England international worth £22m, according to The Times. Chelsea are interested in signing new attacking players despite an abundance of forwards already at the club and have made an approach to Benfica for Schjelderup. However, Schjelderup – who is also at the World cup with Norway – has reservations over the move given Chelsea failed to qualify for the Champions League. This is not the first time Schjelderup has been linked with a move to the Premier League – Liverpool tried to sign him in 2023 but the Norwegian rejected the Anfield club in favour of Benfica.

Chelsea star wants Man City move but asking price is a problem | Football | Metro News

Chelsea star wants Man City move but asking price is a problem | Football | Metro News Chelsea full-back Malo Gusto is keen on a move to Manchester City, according to reports, but the Blues’ asking price for the full-back stands in the way of a deal. However, Chelsea have slapped a huge asking price of £75m on the France international and that is putting Manchester City off a move. The 23-year-old remains under contract at Chelsea until 2030, on the same contract he signed after his £30.7m move from Lyon three years ago. Chelsea have already agreed a deal for another right-back this summer, reaching an initial agreement with Atalanta over a €60 million (£51.6m) deal to sign Marco Palestra The Blues beat Inter Milan to the Italy international and have agreed a €57 million (£49.1m) transfer fee plus an additional €3m (£2.5m) in add-ons, while Atalanta also have a 10 per cent sell-on clause. Palestra has agreed a five-year contract with Chelsea worth €5m (£2.5m) per season, a deal which doubled Inter’s offer.
