Man Utd Table Contract Offer to Sign Ex-Leeds Star Karl Darlow
Man Utd Table Contract Offer to Sign Ex-Leeds Star Karl Darlow Manchester United may be struggling in their pursuit of strengthening their midfield options this summer, but that hasn't stopped them from making moves to bolster the squad in other areas. The Red Devils have missed out on top midfield targets Elliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes to Man City and Tottenham respectively, and are now being forced to look at alternatives, while a new left-winger and left-back are also understood to be being targeted. But United are now looking at options to add to their goalkeeper department, having allowed Andre Onana to move on loan to Trabzonspor once again. According to Daily Mail reporter Simon Jones, Man Utd are among the clubs who have tabled a formal contract offer to sign goalkeeper Karl Darlow. Everton have also tabled an offer as they look to provide competition for Jordan Pickford, while Leeds have made an improved contract offer as they look to keep him in Yorkshire. Man Utd are keen to bring him in as competition and depth for Senne Lammens, but they first want to seal a deal to sell Altay Bayindir to give them extra headroom and create space for him in the squad. Bayindir is attracting interest from Turkish side Besiktas. Lammens could learn a lot from him, and United would have a trusted option in their squad should the Belgian suffer an injury or drop in form, and this make the option of a free transfer more appealing, while they put the cash towards more pressing areas of the squad.

Romano: Karl Darlow Will Sign Contract to Join Man Utd Today
Man United's midfield rebuild was the big priority heading into the transfer window following the exit of Casemiro, and with Manuel Ugarte having been expected to leave Old Trafford. The knee ligament damage suffered by the Uruguay international at the World Cup for Uruguay has only heightened their need for new faces in the engine room, and it looked like a deal to sign Ederson from Atalanta was wrapped up. A decision is expected imminently on whether the Red Devils will proceed with a deal worth less than £40m or not, but a move for his Brazilian compatriot Santos does look set to happen after he completed his medical. United have also been looking to land a new back-up goalkeeper after Andre Onana re-joined Trabzonspor on a season-long loan deal, and with Altay Bayindir expected to leave Old Trafford this summer. News broke on Thursday that they had agreed a deal to sign former Leeds stopper Karl Darlow on a free transfer, after his contract at Elland Road expired at the end of June. They are now said to be in talks over a move for Tchouameni's France teammate Manu Kone, who started his nation's 2-0 World Cup quarter-final win against Morocco on Thursday night.

Man Utd breaking 'strict transfer rule' as £35m Youri Tielemans deal advances - The Mirror The signing of Youri Tielemans will see Manchester United break a two-year transfer rule(Image: (Photo by Nico Vereecken / Photo News via Getty Images)) Manchester United are going against their own transfer rule by signing 29-year-old Youri Tielemans. Following the decision to pull out of the Ederson transfer due to concerns over a knee injury sustained last season, United moved quickly for the Belgium captain and have since arranged a medical. Had United signed 27-year-old Ederson from Atalanta, he would have been the oldest signing of the last two years with Sir Jim Ratcliffe having a strict transfer rule, as of May 2024, that United would only sign players under 25, as per The Sun. Despite opting against bringing in Ederson, at least for now, United will seemingly break their own transfer rule twice with Karl Darlow also set to join as a free agent. That deal for the 35-year-old was agreed in the wake of Andre Onana heading back to Trabzonspor on loan. Numerous names have been linked but it now seems as though it could be between Alex Scott of Bournemouth and AS Roma's Manu Kone. Manchester United are interested in Manu Kone as Aurelien Tchouameni looks set to sign a new Real Madrid contract Scott would be the addition that fits United's transfer strategy but they appear to have loosened their stance on the need to only sign players of a certain age. Further forward, the future of Marcus Rashford appears to be clearing up especially after Barcelona agreed a deal for Karim Adeyemi to join from Borussia Dortmund in addition to the signing of Anthony Gordon. A permanent move elsewhere for the 28-year-old remains an option but being re-integrated into Michael Carrick's squad and being part of pre-season is also a potential outcome.

Everton goalkeeper situation following Sam Johnstone and Orjan Nyland transfer links - Liverpool Echo
Everton goalkeeper situation following Sam Johnstone and Orjan Nyland transfer links - Liverpool Echo Orjan Nyland and Sam Johnstone have both been linked with potential moves to Everton over the past week Jordan Pickford, who won Premier League Save of the Season for the second time with his stunning late stop to keep out a volley from Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali in Everton’s 3-2 win at St James’ Park is at the peak of his powers, so just why are the Blues being linked to a string of goalkeepers this summer? Even when Llandudno’s greatest son was unsettled in 1990, the Blues were unable to get a transfer over the line for Egypt World Cup keeper Ahmed Shobeir – father of Mostafa Shobeir who was in goal for them in the current tournament – because they refused a work permit over fears the North African wouldn’t be first choice. A year ago tomorrow, Mark Travers joined Everton for a £4million fee from Bournemouth. Karl Darlow, who has made 279 senior appearances, including a century or more for both Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United, was linked to the Blues when his Leeds United contract expired but instead the 35-year-old Wales international has chosen to make the controversial switch across the Pennines to the Yorkshire club’s bitter rivals, Manchester United, where, even with Senne Lammens guilty of the blunder that saw Belgium knocked out of the World Cup by Spain after replacing the injured Thibaut Courtois, he looks set for more bench duty. The 33-year-old from Preston commanded a £10million fee less than two years ago when he moved from Crystal Palace to Wolverhampton Wanderers, who were also the source of the Blues current number three keeper Tom King who was snapped up on August 15 last year. Then, hot on the heels of Norway’s World Cup exit to Pickford’s England, their first choice at the finals Orjan Nyland was being linked to Everton. A report from El Desmarque in Spain claimed the 35-year-old who has previous experience in England with Aston Villa, Bournemouth and Reading and is a free agent after his three-year deal at Sevilla expired, has been sounded out by the Blues. Halifax-born Carl Rushworth was an ever-present in goal for the Sky Blues in the second tier last term, playing in all 46 matches while on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion. The West Midlands outfit have already had two bids for Rushworth rejected, the second of which was in excess of £20million so if they cannot agree terms with the Seagulls then Travers could offer a much cheaper alternative and he already boasts Premier League experience.

Update on Man Utd Move to Sign Manu Kone Emerges After Tielemans Deal
Update on Man Utd Move to Sign Manu Kone Emerges After Tielemans Deal Manchester United are looking to complete a third midfield signing in this transfer window, and Manu Kone is one of the stars who has been linked with a move. The Red Devils have completed three signings so far this summer, sealing a £50m agreement for Andrey Santos and triggering the £35m release clause of Youri Tielemans to strengthen their midfield, while Karl Darlow has arrived on a free transfer to add more experience to the goalkeeper department. Kone, who has shone for France at the World Cup as an understudy for Aurelien Tchouameni, has been heavily linked with a move away from AS Roma following his performances. United are reported to have made contact for the 25-year-old, but while appearing on the Talk of the Devils podcast for The Athletic, journalist Carl Anka revealed what he had been told about the club's reported interest. Carlos Baleba, Alex Scott, and Ayyoub Bouaddi have also been linked. It's clear that there is some interest in Kone from Old Trafford, but how far that interest stretches seems to be the main sticking point.

Man Utd Ready to Sign Crysencio Summerville in Bargain £30m Deal
Man Utd Ready to Sign Crysencio Summerville in Bargain £30m Deal Manchester United are now eyeing a bargain £30m move to sign West Ham United winger Crysencio Summerville this summer, although it hinges on one factor, according to the Guardian. After a quiet start to the summer transfer window, Man United chiefs have sprung into action this week by completing three deals, while U-turning on the agreement they had to sign Brazil international Ederson from Atalanta. The Red Devils decided after an issue with the midfielder's medical that they would pull out of a deal, with the club securing the signatures of Chelsea's Andrey Santos and Aston Villa's Youri Tielemans for £50m and £35m respectively this week. Karl Darlow has also moved to Old Trafford as the club's second-choice goalkeeper, with Andre Onana already re-joining Trabzonspor on loan and Altay Bayindir expected to leave this summer. United are still looking to bring in a third midfielder to join Santos and Tielemans after Manuel Ugarte suffered a serious knee injury at the 2026 World Cup with Uruguay, with the likes of French duo Manu Kone and Eduardo Camavinga, and Premier League pair Alex Scott and Carlos Baleba, among the names linked. While United have been linked with players like Morgan Rogers, Rafael Leao and Bazoumana Toure this summer, it appears as though Summerville remains a preferred target for the wing. GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Ben Jacobs reported at the start of this month that United had opened club-to-club talks over a move for the Netherlands international, who announced himself on the global stage with some impressive performances, goals and assists at the World Cup. The Guardian report that the Red Devils are ready to make a move for the £30m-rated forward if Rashford leaves, with the England international currently due to report for pre-season training at Carrington after Barcelona decided to sign Anthony Gordon from Newcastle instead. While United and Rashford are said to have called a truce ahead of pre-season training with the 28-year-old no closer to securing a move away from Old Trafford, Red Devils chiefs are keen to offload him either permanently or on loan before the September 1 transfer deadline, according to the same report. Rashford still has two years remaining on his £17.5m-per-year contract, and United are keen to remove him from their wage bill like they did with Casemiro earlier in the summer.
Man Utd Complete Another Signing Under the Radar
It took Man United nearly a month into the summer transfer window to get their first deals over the line but, like London buses, they have all happened at once this week. An expected deal to sign Ederson from Atalanta was called off despite the Red Devils agreeing a fee with the Serie A outfit for his services, because of concerns about his medical tests. United quickly turned their attentions to other central midfield targets once that became clear, to fill a void left by the departure of Casemiro following the expiry of his contract, as well as the serious knee injury suffered by Manuel Ugarte for Uruguay at the 2026 World Cup. Club chiefs have this weekend landed two players with Premier League experience in Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans for a combined fee of £85m, the same price that Tottenham Hotspur paid to beat United to the signature of Mateus Fernandes from West Ham United. United also completed a deal to bring goalkeeper Karl Darlow to Old Trafford on a free transfer, but a fourth signing was also quietly finalised. While three new faces joined the first-team, United also completed a deal to sign Colombian midfielder Cristian Orozco on Monday when he celebrated his 18th birthday, according to the Manchester Evening News. According to Samuel Luckhurst of the Sun, United are now working on three more transfers after completing a quartet of deals this week. Then, United also want to bring in a left-sided attacker if Marcus Rashford completes a move away from the club, with Crysencio Summerville the name mentioned the most in recent weeks. Another forward is also wanted at Old Trafford, which would be a move that would presumably accelerate if Joshua Zirkzee leaves the club.
