Manchester United in Talks to Sign Chelsea's Andrey Santos

It's no secret that the Red Devils are pushing to bring in multiple midfield additions in the summer transfer window as they look to replace Casemiro. United do appear to be closing in on a move to sign Ederson from Atalanta, but any deal has slowed down due to his involvement at the World Cup. Either way, the Red Devils need to bring in multiple midfield reinforcements in the summer transfer window, especially if Manuel Ugarte's injury is serious. According to The Athletic's Ornstein, Manchester United have held talks with the agent of Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos in the summer transfer window. Chelsea do value the midfielder highly, but they would not block a move if it suited all parties involved. It remains to be seen how much Chelsea are going to demand for Santos in the summer transfer window, but United have already made their move.

However, Romano clarified that Manchester United have not yet made an official approach or launched a formal bid to Chelsea. Initial talks on player side but no approach or bid to Chelsea yet. United’s interest in Santos reflects the club’s long-term plan to add younger, more athletic midfielders capable of thriving in Michael Carrick’s system. His profile makes him an ideal partner for new signing Ederson, who recently arrived from Atalanta in a deal worth around £35 million. Manchester United continue to assess several midfield targets after losing the race for Mateus Fernandes, who completed a big money move to Tottenham. Man United still have other targets shortlisted, including Bournemouth’s Alex Scott as well as Bruno Guimaraes, who has been linked with a move away as well. With Ederson already through the door, Manchester United are expected to continue exploring the market for a second midfield signing before the transfer window closes.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Newcastle are also keen on the 22-year-old Brazilian, who is open to a move because he wants a regular starting role. Man United first asked about Santos when Chelsea signed Alejandro Garnacho, but at that time the Blues were not prepared to sell. Casemiro has left, Manuel Ugarte has injury concerns, and although United have agreed a deal for Atalanta’s Ederson, Michael Carrick still needs more depth and long-term quality. Newcastle’s interest makes the situation more urgent, especially if they view Santos as a replacement for Sandro Tonali. If Chelsea are willing to negotiate below their valuation, Santos could become one of the more intelligent midfield deals of the summer.

Chelsea are having an interesting summer – they’ve done little business, although they have sold their first choice left back and are now in the process of selling one of their talented young midfielders (Andrey Santos) to a rival for Champions League places (Manchester United). Last summer’s business between those two saw Alejandro Garnacho signed by the Blues for £40m. That went about as well as everyone expected – that is to say, not very well. There are already rumours that the Blues want to move him on, and today useful transfer insider Ben Jacobs comes in with claims that there is interest from Saudi Arabia in the Argentine. It’s clear that a loan won’t work for Chelsea, at least as it stands, so we will have to wait and see what these interested teams are offering us – and most importantly, if Garnacho fancies life in Saudi Arabia.

Man Utd in Advanced Talks to Sign Karl Darlow

The Red Devils have been looking at midfield for much of the season and after agreeing a deal to sign Ederson from Atalanta last month, the club also agreed a £50m deal with Chelsea this week to bring in midfielder Andrey Santos. But they have also been keen to add an experienced goalkeeper to the squad to cover for Senne Lammens, and they are now on the verge of completing a deal for the former Leeds star. Darlow was originally signed to be the number two goalkeeper at Elland Road He was then expected to be number two again last season after Leeds signed Lucas Perri, but Darlow stepped in again in January, and was number one for the rest of the season. The 34-year-old is now in advanced talks to move to Old Trafford as cover and competition for Lammens, who displaced Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir to stake his claim at Man Utd following a move from Royal Antwerp last summer. United made a contract offer to Darlow after his Elland Road contract expired, and they have now convinced him to make the switch despite rival offers from Leeds and Everton. There are still finer points to be finalised before the move is completed, and he is expected to replace Altay Bayindir in the squad, who is likely to return to Turkey.
